NFL supplements Logan and Cordell salary
#1
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Nick Scott is also on the list. I read the Tweet, so I get what it means but when did this become a thing in the NFL?

https://nflcommunications.com/Pages/2022-Performance-Based-Pay-Distributions-Announced.aspx

Quote:Under the Performance-Based Pay program, a fund is created and used as a supplemental form of player compensation based on a comparison of playing time to salary. Players become eligible to receive a bonus distribution in any regular season in which they play at least one official down. In general, players with higher playtime percentages and lower salaries benefit most from the pool.

Performance-Based Pay is computed by using a player index (“Index”). To produce the Index, a player’s “PBP Playtime” (defined as the player’s regular season total plays played on offense, defense and special teams, divided by the number of plays of the player with the most total combined plays on that team) is divided by his “PBP Compensation” (defined as regular season full salary, prorated portion of signing bonus, earned incentives). Each player’s Index is then compared to those of the other players on his team to determine the amount of his Performance-Based Pay. If a player’s base salary is less than the Minimum Salary of a player with seven or more Credited Seasons, then player’s base salary will be imputed to be equal to the Minimum Salary of a player with seven or more Credited Seasons (i.e., $1.120M for the 2022 season). By imputing a minimum salary of $1.120 million, a slightly higher percentage of the pool is directed to high-performing veteran players whose salaries exceed $1.120 million, but are not among the highest in the league, as contemplated by the formula. This imputation of salary is solely for the purpose of calculating distributions from the pool and does not affect the actual salary paid to the player under his contract.

They give examples in the same article.  Basically there is a fund created for players that play a lot but don't get paid much.   If they qualify they get compensated.

Going by the chart it looks like Volson and Wilson got a nice bonus both of which I agree they earned.

Man, your hate for a 4th round rookie that just stepped right in and was solid at LG is kind of strange Bfine. Mellow

Seems there are people out there that agree with me that Cordell played well for a 4th round rookie, good for him.

Thanks for the low down George, actually like that. These guys put their bodies on the line big time, nice to see them get
compensated for when they play above their contract. Will be paying Logan big money soon pretty damn sure.

Seems like Volson was throw an extra 800k just for playing a lot. I love that for the players

We need something like this at every job.

Pay the people more who put in the most snaps but getting paid less!

Tongue
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

The performance-based name is what I think is maybe confusing some. It is based on playing time vs. what they are getting paid.  Basically the idea if you are playing a high level of snaps but not being paid much (out playing the contract as some describe it based on volume of play) you may qualify for the bonus and has nothing  to do with the quality of play.

I agree a player making a low salary but has starting player time on the field should get a bonus.

Yeah, when Volson comes out this year playing between Brown and Karras and is a mauling machine, they'll all say they will eat their crow, then pretend like they never said it. Hilarious

Burfict was a big recipient of this program, that's the main reason I knew it existed.
