I didn't score much in any of my Fantasy Leagues last week.
Hang in there Tecmo, often a low scoring week is followed by a high scoring week. It is the rollercoaster that Baseball Fantasy is every year. You are not out. If you string together some weeks of wins, you are right back up there. I look for your team to get hot.
I still lead everybody in points scored, but the problem is I lead everybody by a mile in points scored against me. I have not had a week where my opponent had trouble scoring. Every week I have about 450 to 500 points scored by my opponent. So I'm only one game over .500 in great part because nobody is close to me in points scored against them. Look at Standings Stats. Houdizzles now Mash Unit will also lay the points on me as always. I'm not crying, but it is hard to have a good record when you are way in front of everybody in points scored against you this season. Every team scores out the wazzo when they play me, every week of this season. All other teams have 5,000 points scored on them this season, I've had over 6,000 points scored against me. There is no Defense for that. Everybody gets Red Hot when they play me. If I don't score 500, I don't even have a chance, because each week I get 450 to 600 points put up by my opponents.

It was like two drunks stumbling through the parking lot each trying to find their car and keys before the other. At least both teams crested the 400 number.
On to Cincinatti!

I'm the Dizzles. I just changed it temporarily in jest when my pitchers and then my outfielders started dropping like flies at a bar-b-cue (me and you, stinky pinky, pew-pew-pew).
Sorry, every time I hear or see the word bar-b-cue it reminds me of The Green Mile. Best of luck, Kevin.

We are in a close one. My pitchers are struggling also. We could all use a batch of pitchers in free agency get hot, because we could all use more pitching.

Definitely, pitching is slim and none right now in free agency.

You got me this week. See, I told you everybody scores points when they play me. Nobody has 200 to 300 point weeks on me. Everybody that plays me racks up 450 to 600 points. That's a fact. Not one low scoring week against me this season. I lead the league in points scored against them by a mile.
I'm still one of the leaders in points scored, if not the leader, but an off week for me this week. My pitchers got clobbered this week. It happens.
So you got me this week. Pointless to make moves for a big run Sunday. It is end of month. I grabbed best pitcher and hitter I could to start July. Not an overhaul, but a couple changes to try to start July with best team I can have.
So I go into July at .500 on the season. For all the points I've scored this season, I should have more wins, but no team has had as many points scored against them as my team. not even close. It's hard to win when every team has their hot weeks against you all season. I told you that you would score points against me, everybody else does.
I added Ortiz pitching OK for Pirates, and added Delong who was All-Star SS / 2nd for Cardinals now doing OK for White Sox. Not earth shaking moves. but maybe they fill some needs going forward.
I almost grabbed Eduardo Rodriguez for Arizona now a few weeks ago. Word was he would pitch in July. Now word is he may start rehab in late July maybe. That is how the injured pitchers are this season. Either out for the season, or they may come back try to pitch in August or September, which doesn't help much in Fantasy of shorter regular season. I've got old men Verlander and Kershsaw on my IL, but I don't look for them to come back and pitch much this season. One team I have Trout on IL, and he is another one who keeps having rehab setbacks and probably not much this season. After losing Bieber early, I put some hopes on a comeback by Verlander or Kershaw, but both look too over the hill to pitch anymore. As for now, they don't hurt me on my 2 IL spots, but I'm no longer hoping to get any points out of them.
Again, we could all use these MLB teams bringing up young bloods from the Minors second half of season, because these veteran Tommy John surgery pitchers just aren't cutting it. We could all use some Minor League players brought up and added to our Free Agent options.

I got lucky yesterday and my hitters went off. I was watching the Dodgers and Giants on FOX. Glasnow was screwing the pooch and was pulled after 3.1 innings. I was frustrated about it because I kept him over Elly. Which still pisses me off because immediately after our draft Tatis was listed as an OF. Going into the draft both Elly and Tatis were listed as SS. As much as I like Elly, I couldn't see keeping two SS's. Anyways, I digress. I logged in to see how bad Glasnow had screwed me and seen that my hitters had went off.

My season is definitely over. The lone, hopefully bright spot, is that I have Skenes as a keeper in '25.

Playoffs! Hell of a first rd. I thought Kevin had DDs cooked going into Wednesday. Crazy! I managed to get by a tough Navarre team.
Tecmo had a rough year. From the Championship last season to the basement this year, ouch...lol You had some bad luck along the way this year losing Acuna.
Onto the DC round. Gonna be a tough finish!

Congrats to Ohio Knights winning World Series in a close on over Coach McNeil Houndizzles.
It was a good year of baseball. A good tough league. Season and Play-Offs showed that.
It's a long way from March Draft to last day of September. I think we all need a break now, but come March we will be fired up for Draft again.
Dune Dogs and Ohio Guz made Final Four. Navarre Redbirds and my Cincinnati Red Bengals were Wild Cards. Not having Grayson Rodriguez or Hunter Greene end of season hurt my Pitching big time.
Ohio Knights and Houndizzles played a close World Series with Ohio Knights winning the long, hard season.
See you all again in March. I have to think Aaron Judge will be a Keeper for me. Maybe also Elly De La Cruz. It was nice having both, made daily line-up pretty easy.

Heading into February. We will be drafting in March and baseball probably starts late in March. Use to be April, but has moved more to last part of March.
I'm sure I will keep Judge and De La Cruz is we have the 2 Keepers again. Why would I give those 2 up ? That means I won't even have a chance to look for pitching until round 3. It will depend who is on the board. Could go for more hitting if that is how the board in on top fantasy points players. Not sure. Too early to practice mock drafts, but will get into those start of March. A lot depends on who comes in healthy, because it is hard to draft some player injured who may or may not be back late in the season. There are enough injuries to healthy players to try to build a team around a MASH unit of players.
It does take a good balance. Hitting alone will not keep you in the hunt. I've had teams of all hitting, and teams of all pitching. A nice blend of top hitters and pitchers makes the fantasy season easier. You can't draft all the top hitters and pitchers, others are drafting also. I have noticed the few teams that try to go no pitching to avoid negative pitching points, those teams always end up in last place. End of season and no pitching innings, but not many win weeks either. Of course if you go all pitching and end up last in home runs and such in hitting, it's hard to win.
Some of the star pitchers have became real old or real injured or both. I think we are going to see new names rise up in pitching, names nobody is even looking at yet. Take the Reds, they could have some good pitchers, if they could ever stay healthy. If the Reds get pitching and defense under Francona, they could win more games, and a banjo hitter could jack homers out of Great American Small Park. Anyway, there will be new rising stars this season in MLB. There has to be, because some players are on their way out. The opportunity for at bats and pitching innings is there for some new bloods to step up on the 30 teams. There is only 10 or so of us, and you would think 30 teams would provide us all with 10 good fantasy rosters.
I'll mention a pitcher the Reds added that has had times of being good in Fantasy, and that is Brady Singer. I think he flew under the radar with Royals and not on a team like Yankees or Dodgers, but I've got points off Singer before. He could just give Reds some quality innings. So Kershaw and some other old and injured pitchers, the door of opportunity opens for some new stars.
Unlike NFL, baseball is a longer season. Fantasy teams will get hit by injuries over 6 months. You don't want to use all you player moves in April, you will need some later, it's a long season. In our old league, I saw one tough team used Relief Pitchers and I really didn't. He won with those Saves or Hold points. It doesn't have to be just Saves, those guys that rack up a lot of Holds as Set Up men help a Fantasy Pitching Staff.
Well, that's enough. Bengals over for now. Looking at Reds and our Fantasy Baseball draft a month away in March. Judge gives me one good outfielder and De La Cruz gives me one good infielder, so I'll Keep them and see whos on the board in round 3 on. Heck, we have around 25 rounds or something. The players names start looking weak last part of draft, but you hope you find some late round players that can help round out your team. Here is where Fantasy Managers differ, the last part of draft. Some want nothing but hitters as bench players. I'm of the belief that due to injuries, you better have some bench pitchers also.
See you guys in THE DRAFT in March. Tecmo and some others got hit by injuries bad, but it happens. You just hope you can find Free Agency help or work a Trade. Some weeks you win big, some weeks you get blown out, but a lot of weeks after going Monday to Saturday, it comes down to winning by a couple points for the week on Sunday. Luck plays into it, just as in NFL. I like this, because we don't lose any money on it, it is not really gambling. I'm 70, so I end up knowing new ball players other 70 year old's don't, thanks to Fantasy sports. Too many my age talk of who was good 100 years ago, but it's good to try to keep your mind in today as you get older, if you can. So looking forward to a new season, new stars. Again, Reds could be tough if their pitchers can finally be healthy, and Francona has them playing good defense and less base running mental mistakes, Hey, it won for the 1969 Mets. Pitching and Defense won for The Dodgers a lot in the 1960's. What is over looked about the 1970's Reds is from Johnny Bench on, those guys played great Defense. Pitching and Defense Wins, and often those Home Run guys teams lose. Homers are nice, but if Reds can have Pitching and Defense, they could win the NL Central. Of course they can't belly flop in April, they need to win some games early. Bengal Fans know all about losing too many games early in season. Fire out of The Gate.
