Better than Allen!

Upgrade! Cool

Wild, was wondering about Siemian not signing with us before. Good move. Starting experience, doesn't turn the ball
over much as a starter and has decent pocket awareness unlike Allen. Been awhile since we had a decent backup QB.

Good back up. Probably a better option than Brandon Allen.

That's great news, but I hope he never sees the field this season. Because if he doesn't, it means Joe Burrow is likely healthy and the Bengals are probably having a great season.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

A much better option than Brandon. Can't believe the 49ers signed him!

Upgrade, smart signing! Siemian can win a few games if Burrow misses time. Having to rely on Browning, a washed vet, or some other practice squad guy is not a recipe for success
Through 2023

Mike Brown’s Owner/GM record: 32 years  223-303-4  .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record:  5-9, .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record, reg. season:  37-44-1. .455 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2, .714 winning pct.

Great. Way more happy with the QB room having a QB who can actually win games if Burrow goes down. I had no faith in Allen. If Burrow got hurt around week 10 and Allen was QB I honestly wouldn’t predict another win.

Career stats:
Trevor Siemian
621 comp 1055 att 58.9 comp% 7027 yards 42 TD 28 INT

Brandon Allen
149 comp 263 att 56.7 comp% 1611 yards 10 TD 6 INT

Clearly, Trevor has WAY more experience than Brandon and, aside from completion % has some pretty good stats.

Per game stats:
Trevor Siemian (35 games)
17.7 comp 30.1 att 200.8 yards 1.2 TDs 0.8 INT

Brandon Allen (15 games)
9.9 comp 17.5 att 107.4 yards 0.7 TDs 0.4 INT

I don't think anyone was arguing this point, but CLEARLY, Siemian is an upgrade to Brandon Allen.

Siemian also has 30 career starts, including 14 one year for the Broncos.

Hope he has a great preseason and then we never see him again on the field then entire season and playoffs and Super Bowl.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Hope it's for vet minimum, because I don't want him to make the roster cut. He's simply not accurate enough to even be an NFL QB, he's never even reached 60.0% completion in a year.. Don't even trust him to start a couple games, so I sure hope he's an absolutely amazing clipboard holder and is just really good studying film to help Burrow prepare for games.

Hopefully he doesn't have to start more than a game or so every few years.

I think, in general...you aren't in good shape if you go from a start QB to a backup. There's a huge falloff.

Woot!
Competition for Jake Browning rather than just handing Browning the spot.

Get another TE added to the mix at some point before the season starts that can give some confidence getting significant snaps if needed, and I'll be a happy camper.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Remember when this guy absolutely torched us back in 2016?

"On September 25, 2016, Siemian became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 300 yards and complete 4 touchdowns with no interceptions in his first career road start in a 29–17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. His 132.1 quarterback rating was the highest achieved in the league that week. He was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Bengals"

If you're going by stats alone, you can't determine a QB's accuracy.  Drops, throwing downfield a significant amount, throwing it away to prevent a sack, etc. can undermine the completion percentage.  I can't say one way or the other since I've not seen him enough.
