Who goes to the outfield?
#1
The Reds have a bit of a problem, to many infielders.

We've got DLC, India, Steer, and McClain. Plus CES coming up and now Votto back. Senzel has been in the infield a lot.

Friedl has been holding down CF and he's been a giant spark for this team in many games at the plate. But who's going to become our regular right and left fielders? Benson has been RF in several of the last few games and he's only 25 years old. I'm not sure despite his struggles at the plate overall I'd totally give up on him? He's been coming on lately.

Fraley has a team leading 41 RBI's.

DLC to me seems like a natural 3Bman with that arm. But CES has been at 3rd his whole career besides lately being at first. Do you put CES back to third and keep DLC at SS? What then do you do with McClain? Do you keep India at 2B? or move him to LF? Not sure he has much OF experience or would even be good out there? Can Steer play RF?

I guess it's a good problem to have but somebody is going to have to move out there.

I knew Senzel was good against lefties, but I didn't realize this good:

If I had to move anyone to the OF, I want another #44 out there patrolling CF. Imagine that speed and range out there. They can platoon the corner spots with what they have now, in my opinion. These guys are all getting spot duty right now, and it’s working. All getting playing time, and most are producing.

I would really like to see them try CES in the outfield. The guy has an above average arm, which is why he was considered a 3B more than a 1B for most of his minor league career.

Putting him at 1B kind of wastes his 2nd best tool (behind power), but it would be really useful in the outfield.

And I think the Reds have tried him out there on the 15th and 16th, but he was back at 3B on the 17th, so maybe they didn't like what they saw haha.

Senzel, at this point in his career, is a left handed specialist imo. Don't start him against RHP. He just cannot hit it. That makes him a bit niche since left handers are probably only about 30% of pitchers, but he is so good against them, I think he could be worth a roster spot in those cases.

So he and Fraley, who is absolutely abysmal against left handed hitting, should be a platoon out in the outfield as well.

Myers getting released adds some clarity.

Saw that, yup. I didn't realize Barrero had been sent down either. Clears things up a little more. And Hopkins, so perhaps they're getting ready to call up CES?

I'd love to see them somehow, someway, pick up a decent starter to help shore up our dinged up pitching staff.
