Rank our Edge D (2023)
#1
We move back to the D and asses our Edge Dlinemen. This one is a little different. I'll allow 2 choices in the poll. Vote to answer 2 questions. One question is where do we rank against the NFL and one is who will be our #3. I get Myles will most likely play LDE with Ossai plays RDE, but one of them will have better numbers. I posted some numbers, from '21, i think it was, that showed combined sacks for starting EDs and i seem to recall the Bengals being in the top 10. Maybe right around 10. Kinda foggy right now but i voted 6-10 while i believe they're around 10ish, give or take a couple.

Trey, Sam and Ossai should get some pretty decent numbers this year.

I would probably rank this edge group last.

Looks like I skipped both LA teams. LAC can do ALOT better than what I listed.

It does not feel like we should be top 10 in sacks

Lou seemed to value covering the whole field over sending pressure so if we are top 10 even tho Lou doesn’t blitz a lot that’s all on guys just making plays.

I really want to blitz more in 2023z

Didn't see #1 as option. Couldn't vote.

But then I voted top 5. Because some teams are OK compared to our depth

For ED combos it looked like this;
chicago - 25.5
cleve - 25
pitt - 22.5
bengals - 21.5
sf 21.5
new orl - 21.5
ariz - 21.5
tenn - 21
carolina - 20

11-16, Ossai

Hendrickson/Hubbard pairings
*2019: 12.5
*2020: 15.5
2021: 21.5 sacks
2022: 14.5 sacks

Not teammates in 2020 and 2019, but that's what it would have been. I think they really need some interior pressure and some scheme help, because 2022 was pretty brutal being 29th in team sacks. They certainly have it in them, though, so I wouldn't be completely shocked if they put together another top-10 season, just sadly can't assume that after '22. Ossai breaking out in his 3rd year sure wouldn't hurt.

I voted 6-10, but around 7th is where I think we are at until we see Murphy play and Ossai continue to become a stud
pass rusher. Trey is a top pass rushing Edge and when he is determined to get to the QB no one in the NFL can stop him.

Hubbard will just get better, always does, his work ethic is second to none.

Went 6-10 with Murphy. No hate for Ossai but Murphy will be sneaky good. Both will have good seasons. The depth at DE is really good.

Hey thanks for reading. Most didn't select between Ossai and Myles in the poll.

Both Hendrickson and Hubbard were top 15 in pressures in 2022.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

This is a hard one as I think Ossai might be the better pass rusher right now and Myles the better run stopper. Depends on the downs.
