Is that why he is on the injury list, spasms? It only says back?

Was hoping it wasn't a pulled disc or something, those are terrible....

Back spasms can be dealt with easier and don't cripple you like injured discs.

He was seen wearing splint and had surgery. My differential diagnosis includes a gamekeeper’s thumb in addition to a fracture because both could be treated the same way. I’ve seen many athletes with that injury because it is a pretty common thumb injury.

So far I haven’t read any primary source information confirming what the injury was.
