If Tee is out Sunday should we start Yoshi?
#1
There are good arguments both ways.

Cons: He has no NFL experience. Odds are good he'll make a mistake on a route or other such.

Pros: He did look pretty decent in preseason. Also he is the closest WR we have in characteristics to Tee.

And yes I know they would likely start Irwin.

Even if we don't start him it's likely he would get playing time. We're down both Jones and Higgins so you would I imagine he's WR4 now.

Depth chart has Iosivas listed as Tee's backup.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Don't think that really matters. Irwin ended up playing 42% of the offensive snaps last week to Iosivas' 19%.

Why the hell not? Shouldn't be too hard to score more than 3 pts.

normally in the heat of a game when top WR goes down, veteran players are more adapt to step in than rookies.. with a week of practice I could see more snaps in store for Iosivas

I assumed Tee was out. Would love to see what Yoshi can do.

I love Irwin. Dudes a stone cold hardass. He catches what is throw his way even when he knows he's gonna get clocked.

Based on plays being 4 yard outs, I can start this week.

I'd rather start Mario. Wahoo!
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

Dumb humor is an art form, imo. LOL

Pros of trying Iosivas over Irwin:
Very little tape on him, so he can surprise defenses.
He adds a speed element that Irwin doesn't
He played well in the preseason to give optimism he'll do well

Cons of trying Iosivas over Irwin:
Irwin actually has looked decent since last year in the limited snaps he's played
Iosivas is still raw, so there might be some mistakes
If Burrow can't really have time or ability to throw deep, that limits Iosivas' value
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

This team is going nowhere so might as well get the younger guys some playing time.

Does it really matter if he “starts” or not? It’s going to be chase and Boyd, then everyone else. He will get his snaps, I’m sure.

A really good QB (or players in general) can mask about any mediocre offensive playcalling.

The good playcallers can successfully identify new/better ways to attack a defense based on what the defense is showing/expects and what player(s) might be injured.

It wouldn't surprise me to see things go a lot better once Burrow is back to normal, but would that just give more leeway for Taylor/Callahan/Pollack to continue running out the same old thing?
