He's slotted at a price, what's the hold up. The Bengals are one of the few with their first not signed.
Signing Cedric Ogbuehi, WTH?

Until July comes - there is no reason what so ever to panic. Mandatory Mini Camp has not even started yet. Relax I'm sure both sides are trying to figure out a way to word the contract because of the Injury. Not accusing the Bengals of low balling because of the injury. A lot of money in the contracts is based off playtime. They get a weekly roster bonus, weekly game day active bonus (Sometimes). This puts the Bengals and Ogbeuhi agent in a difficult spot. They knew what they were getting when they drafted him. They knew he was injured. The language of the Contract is important, I'm sure both sides are trying to figure it out.

I'm not worked up, I just think it's crazy not to have it done. It's not like they haven't worked on these contracts before.
Then again, the Antonio Bryant thing probably still has them gun shy.

Its not just on the Antonio Bryant thing and needing to protect themselves. Most rookie Contracts have Game day bonus and performance bonuses. When a guy is going into the contract negotiations injured (especially on his first ever deal) it makes it difficult. Let me give you an example numbers are off in the example obviously Pick 20 - gets 10 million over the life of the contract. He gets 25k standard per game. + an extra 10 grand if he's active on the game day roster. Pick 21 - Is injured - He is expected to be make 9.85 million over the life of the contract. He makes standard weekly check per game of 24.5k - Now normally they would write in an active game day Roster bonus IE: +10k But you know he's not going to be active this whole season or most of the season. Now The Bengals and his agent have to get creative to find out where to give him that money. There are also other bonuses and areas where a player would make money based off performance or activity. He can't hit the goals. So basically he slotted to make 9.85 million...but you have to figure out how to assign that money (especially during the first year). Pick 22 - gets 9.7 million over the life of the contract he gets 24k standard per game + an extra 10k for being acitve on the game day roster

Let's not forget that it takes BOTH sides to sign a contract. For all we know, the hold up is with Obuehi.

Bengals are in no hurry and they usually only sign players during OTAs or other times they are on-site.
No biggie here. Lots of language in the contracts also and with all the great contracts this team gets done I will give Pumpkin the benefit of the doubt.

The bengals start from the back and work to the front. They have almost everyone signed. Most teams are missing multiple guys at this point. A lot of times what happens is the off set language is the hold up. Teams want to have off set language if they cut a guy and the agent doesn't. It won't be a big deal and really isn't even worth mentioning as I don't think a player hasn't not been signed before the season by any team since the new CBA.

Not trying to sound like a monster cheap-o, but if he isn't going to likely be ready to play for some time, every day the bengals hold off on paying him his contract is a day they can earn interest on it.

He is slotted, so what's the rush?
It's not like he's going to hold out. They're probably just helping him get acclimated to the coaching staff, rehab specialists and doctors in Cincinnati. Maybe if he has a set back early on, that could affect the contract a little bit. But when they're ready to sign, it will be a simple negotiation.

No hurry on this one, he won't be suiting up this season anyways. And what does his medical really show? I'd take extra care on this one before inking him. Malcom Brown was available.
