I am not a contract/CBA wiz, so perhaps jow they list experience on certain sites does not jibe with the FA tlrules, but I though 6 weeks on an active roster (or IR from active) got you a year. And RFA is 3 years. ERFA is 2 or fewer.
Spitrac has him as a RFA, but I think that is wrong. Maybe one year some of those games were PS calls & they don't count? I thought they did.
OTC has Hudson, Irwin, and Wilcox as UFA's, but I think they are wrong on Irwin & Wilcox.
We will find out soon enough. But we may have to pay above MIN to keep Hudson. And I would do so.

We have apparently re-signed OT Cochran to a 1 year contract extension.

IDK if it is future's or a regular. No mention of it being so in the release. I cannot believe he is likely to make the 53, but it is at least a camp body. He coukd beat out Carman or Smith, I guess. Save a little $$$.

As for Boyd, I expect he won't be here. So that means we will have to go get a WR on day 2, or prior in FA. If Boyd is back, we can take WR off the board for draft purposes.
I would agree to that
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Yep. This is the Bengals typical approach to the offseason and I don't disagree with it at all. Fill the roster with ''pros'' so there is no glaring need to reach. It's not ideal to rely on a guy with a futures contract but someone signed right now already has at least a 4 month head start on the playbook before any rookie has a chance to look at it. He's probably already physically ahead of every 4th or 5th rounder that will be available in April.

It was released as an extension so it’s a regular contract. They actually had some hope for him before he got hurt

I would disagree on Jones, little doubt he was picked as heir to Boyd and feel with Irwin a veteran , they will feel confident don't need to look for WR to replace Boyd but maybe to replace Higgins

Thanks for this Ike. Hope we grab a RT and a DT in Free Agency to free up the Draft a bit.
Eluemunor and Madubuike would be ideal IMO.

Jones got 44 offensive snaps this year, the lion's share vs Cleveland's backups.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but that seems awful risky for a SB contender. He is WAY unproven.
I think we want to get more explosive at WR, and Jones does not necessarily bring that. He is speedy, but not explosive. If we were do go with Charlie in the slot to replace Boyd, I think we'd need a serious TE upgrade to compensate (Schultz, Sanders).
I also would not discount the idea of moving Chase inside and getting another wide WR. It does not have to be another slot guy (Roman Wilson, Corley, MacMillan) to replace Boyd. If Polk or Legette is there Rd2, that is awful tempting.

Malachi Corley would be a nice grab. I agree, Chuck hasn't shown enough to be the Boyd heir apparent. I like him though, especially as a backup.
Same with Iosivas who could be great if he held onto the ball through contact better. Rome Odunze is still my 2nd favorite WR in this Draft who I like
to replace Higgins.

1. QB: Browning
2. LS: Adomitis
B. RFA's = 2. (we can match).
1. WR: Irwin
2. TE: Wilcox
OTC has them as UFA's, and Spotrac as RFA's. But I think each has only 3 accrued seasons (6+ games on active roster/IR). Irwin in '21, '22, and '23 (but not '19 or '20) and Wilcox in the same 3 years but not in '20 (PS guy). If I am wrong on this, let me know.
C. UFA's = 22 (16 roster/+6 Practice Squad)
A. Offense
1. WR: Higgins
--------
2. WR: Boyd
3. RT: J. Williams

9. QB: McCarron
10. TE: I. Smith

11. WR: Morgan (PS)
12. RB: Felton (PS)
13. QB: Plitt (PS)
*Hudson has 6+ games played in 4 different NFL seasons. I don't see how he his a RFA.

Because the Bengals really don't like to pay much for TE's, which probably eliminates guys like Schultz, Fant and Henry as realistic possibilities...one guy I think could be of interest is Colby Parkinson from Seattle. He's a very capable run and pass blocker, and I think he could become more of a receiving option given the opportunity. He's only 25, good size at 6'7-251 and should be pretty affordable. He just feels like a guy they would go after.
