more explosive WR3 than Tyler Boyd.

But for now if we just need reliable, I would not be against Boyd either. I don't know the particulars going on with Burton.

I definitely don't think Yoshi is the answer, but we will see.

bengals dont need explosion. Tee and Jamarr already take care of that. They need a 3rd receiver who is a consistent stick mover

Wow Frank, you're leaving yourself open to endless jokes with that statement...  Cool

Not that there is anything wrong with that....

Boyd was poor last year and is worse this. But in TN it is tough to tell.

All these TEs were supposed to help wirh WR3 while Burton develops. I stink we stayvthe course out wide.

I'd love Chido back, but we never make mid-season trades.

Boyd had more yards and a better Drop % than Higgins. In fact, his Drop % in 2023 (which admittedly was the worst of Boyd's since at least 2018) would have still been the 2nd best of Higgins' career.

He's declining, but talk about how poor he was last year is really overblown. He just didn't play well with Browning. Even with early gimpy Burrow games included, before the game Burrow went down Boyd was on pace for 788 yards. If you further refine that by removing the first two weeks where Zac doesn't have his team ready to play, he was on pace for 862 yards.

Nobody is doing well in TN. They're throwing <150 yards per game (32nd) at 5.5ypa (31st) for a 71.2 QB Rating (32nd). Boyd is 14 yards away from being their leading receiver ahead of DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley.

From Bengals Wire:

"
  • Lou Anarumo is fielding a bottom unit for the second year in a row.
  • Duke Tobin and the front office has failed the staff. The drafting largely stinks and when they develop an All-Pro like Jessie Bates, he slips through their fingers. Replacements for Bates, DJ Reader and others never materialize. There’s no pass-rush. Top draft assets spent on cover corners are erratic. A second rounder like Jackson Carman and a possible contributor like Jordan Battle can’t get on the field.
  • The bill only gets higher: They missed on paying Ja’Marr Chase when they should have and won’t retain Tee Higgins. They will pay Chase and Burrow’s bigger cap hits will start to arrive, constricting roster construction.

They should have added in there that a lack of demand by the head coach, for solid execution in the basic football fundamental skills of blocking and tackling is a gaping specter over current state of the team.

I guess that could certainly go in there, and he got his criticism in the article to be sure. However, when I sit back and look at this team, I think us fans have overvalued the talent.

Mike Gesicki was beating DBs out there yesterday and he's a tight end. Yoshi, Irwin, Jones are BUMS. Hudson? Bum. Sample? Good blocker. All was getting open. Tyler Boyd used to get open. Moss is a good backup. Chase Brown is a scat back. The IOL is not that great.

Defense is Trey Hendrickson and a bunch of also rans with the exception of Wilson and Pratt when he's on a hot streak. Being fair to the secondary it's hard to objectively assess them when they have to cover for an ETERNITY. Absolutely zero pass rush.

Now, is this an issue with position coaches, or is it due to the two scouts and their micro fish readers reporting to lifer Duke Tobin? Hard sayin', not knowin'.

I'd say that all of them are at least partly to blame, along with a large slice of Zac Taylor running soft camps with an obvious lack of stress on basic fundamentals.

I'm leaning 60-70% front office. Look at some of the recent drafts.....hell, look at 2015, 16, and 17. They suck Sunset. I'm starting to think I was a little bit too harsh on Marvin. Those last three drafts he was here essentially sank him, and started the current staff out way behind the eight ball. Ogbuehi, John Ross, and WJIII in three straight drafts. Just.....WOW. Now look at Myles Murphy and some of these more recent ones without Joe, JaMarr, and Tee. It's a lot of JAGs and some outright TURDS.

Now some of the soft camp stuff could certainly be an issue, but zero pass rush, poor IOL play, and WRs that couldn't beat me are talent issues.

Agree on all points. Burton made a great catch yesterday with Slay a stud Corner draped all over him. But he also screwed up on the
play where Burrow got pissed because the ref wouldn't let us snap the ball. He is extremely talented but makes mistakes as a rookie.

We better change it up and make a trade this year if the team wants to get the fans back. Came on here yesterday and about every
body has gave up and even I am thinking we need to change things up before it is too late. Lou definitely needs to go after this season.

That 2nd half was inexcusable yesterday by Lou and the Defense. It was the time for them to step up at home and they did just the
opposite and got destroyed. Cannot let that happen in your place.

No doubt. Basic blocking and tackling just isn't there and it is mid season. The coaches all need replaced if a miracle doesn't happen.

Burrow won't be in his prime forever and neither will Chase.

Yep, gonna have to clean house if something miraculous doesn't happen. We are 3-5 and the Stains beat the Rats, yah never know.

Updated with the release of DT Guy, the signing of RB Milton to the 53, and the Pryor/Cochran elevations to the PS for the Raider game.

Brutal news on All. We should stop drafting guys who are not physically or mentally healthy. We refuse to make mid-season trades for veteran/proven players because we value picks, but then we gamble away picks on higher risk rookies. It makes no sense.

Was just wondering, is 8 guys the norm for being out for the season in the middle of one?

Seems a bit high to me...
