***2024 NFL DRAFT THREAD***
Well here goes a run on DT. I suppose this is why we should've resigned Reader.

At least they seemed to improve on that since the 2022 draft when Ed Marinaro was rambling on so long that someone actually had to go on stage and ask him to stop talking. Now it seems the former players get to the pick much faster.

I know the owner wanted some answers last night....

Not the same situation...
-Jordan Love was younger than Penix. If Penix waits as long as Love did, Penix will be in his age 27 season as a first time starter.
-Jordan Love was the 26th overall pick, not the 8th.
-Kirk Cousins isn't going to pull an Aaron Rodgers and win back-to-back MVPs to quiet the dysfunction of having a 1st round backup QB and people calling for the backup to become the starter.
-The Packers had the 15th scoring offense/9th scoring defense in 2019 before drafting Love. The Falcons had the 26th and 18th despite playing in a terrible division.
-The Packers didn't just bring in a brand new starting QB and make their very first impression with him of them doing this.

Plus while it's nice now for the Packers to have a QB... they wasted 2 MVP seasons (and thus 2 Super Bowl shots) from Rodgers after being in the NFCC the year prior. You put Tee Higgins on those '20 and '21 Packers teams and they probably win at least 1 SB. In '21 their #2 WR was Allen Lazard with 513 receiving yards. WRs not named Adams in their 2021 playoff loss had 1 catch for 9 yards and they lost by 3. Love could be good and still never make it to the SB even once.

On the bright side except for Sweat all of the DT going so far are 3Ts which we already have two good ones. Our desperate need is NT. So trust in the process?

But letting Reader get away was friggin' stupid.

I like McKinley Jackson. Seems early, but with the run on DTs and scarcity of nose tackles.

My favorites of what is left:

1) DeJean
2) Mitchell
3) McKinstry
4) Jenkins
5) Tampa
6) Rakestraw
7) Powers-Johnson
8) Melton
9) Frazier
10) Smith/Lassiter/Corley/McMillan.

especially when the guarantee on his contract is only 9 million

That Iowa CB is really falling. I thought he would be a first rounder. I didn't really want a DB early this year, but the value might really be there if he's available.

This round couldn’t have started worse than it has. We are just letting the D line slip away.

I'm not as concerned about Reader as you are since with his injury he likely starts the season on PUP.

Rather have Powers Johnson, Kool Aid, DeJean or maybe the TE Sanders than reach for a DT.

He's a very good player but he's another is he a CB or is he a S type.  Already have a couple of those.

Im with Bengals not a good draft to trade up that far.. if we are looking for a more true NG.. only Sweat was that and must assumed he would slide..
