Consumers win NFL Sunday Ticket case
#1
The NFL is being fined $4.7 billion for anti-trust violations surrounding Sunday ticket.

How that gets distributed after the lawyers share hasn’t been announced.

What this means going forward for Sunday ticket is still unknown. At minimum, I can see them adding an ala carte option for this upcoming season but that is pure speculation

An ala carte option by team or even by specific game(s) could/would be awesome depending on price.

Love it.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Our former Beat Writer (Joe Reedy) responded to me on Twitter, stating that this only affects you guys in the US, which is BS as we also have to pay a large amount here in Canada.

But Sunday Ticket doesn't fall under the same provisos here as it does down by you guys...

The 4.7 million can be tripled. I had Sunday ticket for a long time. They NFL says they will appeal. I agree with others, this could have impact with You Tube as well in 2024 being the only option.

This could also impact the salary cap. The league allocates a percentage of its income towards the salary cap. If the NFL loses, it may result in a reduction in TV income (paying settlement) for the year they pay for the loss and also reduce TV revenue for the future.

I am not an attorney, but I do believe the NFL has a case to reduce their TV income from the settlement amount. So, it is not just the NFL that would lose, players would lose as well. It would be a huge expense to offset some of the TV revenue.

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

I've had Sunday Ticket since I moved to Florida in 1997. I've always wondered why they could'nt do a single team ala carte type thing or single games. I have'nt watched multiple games since Carson got his knee shredded. I only want to watch my team. Every time I start watching another game I start yelling at the TV because of the terrible officiating, so I need to stick to my team only. Plus it's $489 dollars for the season up front. $100 a year for 1 team sounds fair. Would'nt be an issue if every cable outlet had Sunday Ticket, but prices would be waaaaay lower & the NFL can't have that.

I've said for years that the NFL would probably make more offering a smaller package to follow one or two teams for less money, because more people would buy it. I would, but I'm not paying Sunday Ticket prices for game I won't watch because I do not have time to watch 15 or 16 games per week. Now, if I could pay, say 99 dollars to not have to worry about Louisville carrying my Bengals games, I would gladly pay it.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

When I had the ticket I'd try to watch other games during the Bengals commercial breaks but they all seemed to be on commercial break the same time so it defeated the purpose. Then all the best games were on the national window at 4pm anyway so I really didn't need it for that window.

Finally, I'd call and threaten to cancel my DTV for Spectrum, get a new discount / promotion to stay and the promotions usually came with the ticket for free. I did that annually....

I expect multiple things to happen as a result of this. This will probably result in the death of the NFL revenue sharing model, causing relocation of small market teams. Ultimately I expect all televised games will end up as pay per view events, post season and Super Bowl included. And I doubt it would be cheap. Tickets to attend games in person will also increase to help recover the fines. Congratulations lawyers, you’ve successfully screwed the public out of an American past time.

The NFL has already appealed the  decision and will probably win it on

Here I thought there was a sliver of a chance I was actually going to get paid to watch the Ticket this season.

Unfortunately so. I suspect that this will not be the end of this case. I predict it will likely go to Court of Appeals.
