Burrow's Excited About The Offense's Versatility

Personally, I don't care. It's not like teams can keep secrets anymore with the internet and everything, so pretty much every team knows what you're planning on doing.

I also like it because having to prepare for so many things means that they can't prepare for any one thing. Also, teams play 13 other teams besides, so not like they spend their entire offseason (or any of it, besides maybe the division teams spending a bit of time) preparing for us.

That's the biggest flex when we say "we're going to do all this, so try and stop us!"
(07-08-2024, 11:56 AM)SunsetBengal Wrote: How can that be? Everyone knows that Joe wants to line up in shotgun with 3WR and just chuck it all day.  Ninja

Which I am sure that the Bengals will still do a good bit of just that, but now they will also present the offense a bit differently from opponent to opponent.
I admit that I thought Joe liked to line up in the shotgun so he could see the field better, pass more, and be back before the pass rush even started to save himself time, so I'm definitely pumped that he'll be under center and be more mobile!

You're right about the game plan being different from game-to-game, which is exciting since we have so many weapons, in the air and we'll also be able to run the ball.
(07-08-2024, 12:27 PM)SunsetBengal Wrote: The interior 3 should operate as a well oiled machine, as this is their 3rd year together. Volson, whose shown as many really nice plays as he has busted plays, should really feel comfortable and relaxed with the continuity of playing with the man on his right for a 3rd season and going into his 2nd year with Orlando Brown Jr. on his left. Having Trent Brown over on the right side should allow for running lanes on either side of the line. I'm quietly excited for the OL this season, especially if Mims has a good training camp and can get plenty of 6th man reps. (I would like to see the unbalanced line, to assert dominance in some games)
Orlando has recently sounded like he's embarrassed and is working his ass off to get back to Pro Bowl form, and that has me excited. I feel like the confidence on the line will help everyone and they'll all be excited to just dominate, which will elevate their play.

I'm praying that they're all confident because that will elevate their play in practice and in training camp practices.
(07-08-2024, 12:30 PM)Joelist Wrote: The OL is fine, especially if we do stuff that lets them attack more and block down. The variations they are talking about should stop defenses from just teeing off.

Exactly why I'm excited for the motion and for the different looks, along with Joe under center that allows us to run the ball more.

I also love how Joe seeing the field so well allows him to counter the pass rush because he'll be able to audible (or call plays at the line) that exploit the defense because of where they pass rush and where the field is left open.

It's going to be a HUGE YEAR!

It's supposed to rain Wednesday so I might go to Hard Rock in Cincinnati and place some bets on the team and Burrow for MVP!

They've been talking about Bengals likely being in last place and not being able to trust Burrow's health on the National talk radio the past couple weeks. He sounds like he's heard the talk.

A motivated Burrow that's healthy with a line to block is SCARY!

Should be a fun year, especially if the o-line can stay healthy!

Agreed, should be a blast this year if our Offense is actually confusing Defenses like we did against the 49ers last year.

That is the thing, there were times last year when Burrow wasn't healthy that the Offense was completely handcuffed.

Us making the run we did with Browning and the team saying the right things now gives me a ton of optimism about this season on Offense.

(07-06-2024, 04:09 PM)casear2727 Wrote: Motion does aid the QB in revealing the secondary alignment to a certain degree, however, it isn't all positive.

Motion results in more pre-snap penalties, it is more difficult when adding new players, and it can also provide a tell to the defense.

Manning hated motion, I can see Burrow being ok with it but not needing it.  Motion is great for QBs that cannot read and process defenses extremely fast.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chase used in those head start motion routes like Miami does with Hill.

Great point as usual Casear.

How was Miami on pre-snap penalties last year?

One thing about Burrow is he can read and process Defenses very well like Peyton. We will see, Seeing Chase in those head start motion
routes like the Phins use Tyreek Hill could be very effective. We don't have to run as much motion as the Phins do, but more might be a
good idea as long as the penalties don't go up. I like us being one of the least penalized teams over the last few years.

I don't really think it matters, us being less predictable on game day is what matters and saying the right things I don't think tips their hand.

Let's talk about how all the moves rhe Bengals made this off-season is double and tripling down on the spread shotgun offense with alot of 3x1 and 2x2 formations and heavy Duo/Inside Zone Weak as 80%+ of their run game.

Main difference is that with no Boyd, they will probably run a bit more 12 personnel with Gesicki shifting in and out of the slot.

Yep, plus having multiple players who can play on the outside or in the Slot helps with unpredictability and can create mismatches.

Boyd was a damn good Slot Receiver for us in his time, but he wasn't a threat on the outside. Tee has his size to help out his lack of speed.

I think atp Tee’s game speed needs to be respected more

He’s had multiple TDs where he catches a short pass and just burns the D.

But i can definitely see alot of 12 personnel but Gesicki flexing out to the slot pre snap. You come out in nickel and we can run. You stay in 4-3 and we’ll just have Gesicki on your TE and good luck with that

Tee had one last year on a slant where the CB was out of position, the S took a horrible angle, and the Steelers were up like 3 TD's in the second half so no nobody really killed themselves trying to run him down.  That's all I can think of.  Pretty much every deep ball he's caught he's completely blanketed and is a jump ball.

With Tee's size he has long strides which can help him once he is up to speed, but overall his speed is not that impressive.

He is a jump ball Receiver which is valuable but his speed is his weakness.

Correct. That was a complete breakdown on that play.

New personnel changes some of the passing concepts maybe for the better but the overall offensive philosophy is going to be the same. The players they brought in this off-season fits their spread shotgun offense. The new TE room is the perfect example as all three of the new guys are more receivers.

Trenton Irwin is probabaly the best non OL run blocker on the roster eith Tee Higgins fairly close.

You may have forgot All. He can block. And with Sample they don’t need blockers
PFF All is a very solid all-around tight end prospect who shows NFL potential as a blocker and receiver. He is a willing move blocker who is often detached from the line of scrimmage to lead, get to the second level or perform split-zone blocking responsibilities.

You can tell his knowledge of blocking fundamentals and hand usage is there, though he could sometimes show more of a finisher’s mentality. He has a good understanding of both leverage and angles to wall off defenders without holding.

As a receiver, he has big hands to be reliable at the catch point, though he has had frustrating drops over the years. He is a better athlete than he seems to be getting credit for and can run routes with pace and confidence. His underrated change-of-direction fluidity yielded very high separation scores in 2023. He also showcases good balance for yards after the catch and contact.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Yeah, but All makes Eifert look like an Ironman.  All indications have been that he will start the season on the PUP and it's not realistic to expect a Day 3 draft pick to contribute significantly basically missing all of TC and a chunk of the season.

That's scary when you think of how shitty our offensive lines have been and makes you excited for this year when they'll be considerably better.

Most "expert" sites have us ranked in the top fifteen with some even in the top ten in the line rankings, and I think Burrow easily wins MVP this season if we can stay healthy.

Burrow being healthy enough to line up under center offers us so much more as an offensive and also improves the run game a lot, which, in turn, opens up the passing game.

Yeah, but he'll be getting healthy and acclimated at that point of the season that we need a new facet to the offense.

That’s true but he’s an all around tight end. Your comment acted like we disdained TE’s unless more receiver oriented. All isn’t.

Anything Erick All contributes this season is gravy honestly. I think we drafted him for his upside because he COULD become that great
TE for us that we haven't had since Eifert if he CAN stay healthy. Dude can catch, block, run a ton of routes and is extremely hard to tackle
after the catch while having very good speed for a TE.
