Daily observations from camp
Probably the first time we’ve practised in the pouring rain this camp, not the end of the world.

Another two injuries are shit though we are getting thin.

Folks love to give Carman a hard time, but this dude makes Trae Waynes look like and ironman

Both Evans and Smith were seen with braces on their legs and crutches. They will have to go to a local hospital for imaging if needed. No radiology quite on-site in Chicago

Finally Chris Evans does something for the team and takes one of the inevitable pre-season injuries.... Ninja

2 more most likely out for the season. And after Sat game who knows? Bears will be 3-0 and Bengals 0-2.  I know it's preseason but I sure as hell would want to build winning habit in all games.

Gunter showed up to camp before deciding. So believe either the writing was on the wall that he was not making the 53 and just decided the move on with what money he has made. Just hoping it is not because of a family illness or something bad.

Wish him the best !

He played at Anderson County  KY (where my kids went to school) and then at Frankfort HS, so I've been watching him since his High School days. But anyone that thinks he's as good as Browning simply isn't paying attention. He had some nice passes Saturday..... against 3's and 4's and never will bes..... his touchdown pass to Burton was a nice pass, but is was a throw any NFL QB could make. Burton plain humiliated that defender with his first move.

Browning was playing against 2-3-4s..Woodside looked much better..time will tell

Sorry to be profane, but who gives a shit?

2-6-1 in the preseason, since '21 (not including this year)

31-19 in the Regular season, 5-2 in the playoffs, since '21

There is a winning culture/habit here, not worried about that at all.

NFL starters. Don't get me wrong, I liked what I saw of Woodside but one quarter in a Preseason game against 3rd and 4th stringers doesn't
tell you much. When a backup QB comes in and leads your team to a 4-3 record in the regular season that tells you something.

Not to mention Browning was playing with guys that might not make the 53 actives on Sundays.

Don't know about you but whatever I did in my life I wanted to win at. Whether it was sports, drag racing, my business, playing poker with the guys, shooting baskets on the driveway playing HORSE I wanted to win. Losing is for losers. You get in the habit of winning and it becomes a natural, get in habit of losing and you could, start to accept that.

You guys always list the wins they have in the last 3 years. How many playoff wins, Back to back AFCCG that's fine and dandy but Where the hell are the Lombardi's?? it's been 55 years. KC has 3 of 4 SB in the last 6 years.

The idea is nice and all but preseason just doesn't matter outside of roster spots. Winning more in the preseason doesn't make you win more in the regular season.

I say it does matter. You can't tell me those guys don't feel better flying home after winning than getting trounced 30-10. I understand what the thinking is , that preseason is for evaluating players but if I'm on that team I sure as hell want to win. Can't tell me the coaches don't want to win. Any player or coach on the team that doesn't want to win every game should be on some other team.

It doesn’t matter what you say. Reality doesn’t need your approval. Preseason games are too strongly influenced by players who likely won’t even be on the roster in a matter of weeks. If you are interested in winning regular season games, winning preseason games isn’t going to help achieve that. The team that plays in the preseason is a different team doing different things than the regular season team.

The Browns went 4-0 in the preseason the year they went 0-16. Preseason scores don't matter. The players and coaches know this.

That said, I do focus on how our starters look vs their starters. In game 1, we did fine in that category.

Payton Manning and the Colts very seldom won preseason games

You guys don't have to preach the thinking to me. I understand it. But,,preseason or not you can't tell me those guys playing don't want to win even a preseason game. Then on the other hand maybe you are right and they really don't care if they win or not by the way they look in most of their preseason games.
