Reds August Game Thread 2024

If they could get him into AAA for this last month of the minor league season, he could get 5 or 6 starts up there, which would give him a good sample size to justify making the major league club out of Spring Training if he were successful.

Then we could start Burns in high A in 2025, hopefully he makes it to AAA over the course of the season and then he can join the big league club in 2026 :)

India went from being just arctic-in-winter levels of cold to right back to hot. Weird.

For sure

Bell continues to send Cruz out there in high leverage situations and he gets blasted nearly every time. WTF

The Titanic is going down with Bell at the helm. The only people who don’t see the ship sinking is management. Maybe they are the iceberg, lol

So Nick Lodolo blasted again. His ERA thus far in August is 8.56 after posting an ERA of 6.67 in July. His long term suitability as a top end starter is under question.

And now that Greene is out it's over for this season. If it wasn't already.

I think this series against KC, shows how far the Reds are behind from competing for a playoff spot. KC does everything right, fly balls to advance runners, making contact with runners in scoring position, versus the Reds trying to hit a home run on every pitch. They can not make contact in critical situations, strike out way too often.

Team salary has nothing to do with playing the game it’s supposed to be played. Tampa and KC are proof of that. We just don’t have the right mix of power hitters and contact hitters. We will never compete with this hitting philosophy, and management and front office are to blame for this.

There's 38 games left and with Greene out for who knows how long? Lodolo hitting the wall. Ashcraft out. Marte batting like .180 Benson stinking. McClain and CES should stay out for remainder of season because it's over. Stick a fork in this season. //

Sounds like a Reds thing. Greene to the IL, Reds get swept by the Royals after winning 4 straight.

etc, etc. Wash, rinse, repeat.

This beating of a sweep by the Royals is precisely why I've been so skeptical of them turning the season around and making a playoff push the rest of this season.

How many times have the Reds made some headway for 1-3 series then turn around and just poo poo it like they did against the Royals?

Now under 40 games left and 6 games back.

With Greene now on the mend and McLain still not back, I am sorry but I have no hope they'll even do as well as last season. Definitely don't think a playoff appearance is happening.
Talk about a down year, for me at least.

Reds need some guys to hit consistently.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
