Evan McPherson is waiting for his extension with a lot less publicity than Ja'Marr.
A quick glance at the top rated kickers makes it pretty easy to see he will come in between 6 and 6.5 million per year
All hopes turn to next year

The easiest answer is $6 mill for McPherson because he's right about on par with Jake Elliott and Tucker is the (current) GOAT.
But I can't imagine the Bengals would get too tied up on an extra $500k APY, so why not just make him just barely the top-paid K at $6.5 mill and call it a day?
Just lock it in for 4+ years so the Bengals won't have to worry about K for a while.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

I'm still shocked that the Bengals let Jake Elliot walk.

Jake Elliot struggled at times with the Bengals.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

People made a big deal about that long kick he made as a rookie, but the next 3 years he had an 81.6 FG% and missed multiple PATs each year while going 6-14 at 50+. He didn't become an actually good kicker until his 5th year.

I forgot how bad his first 2 games in pre-season was... he did finish the last 2 perfect however.

That's fair but I just remember how bad Bengals fans hated Randy Bullock during that time period as well. I figured they'd give the rookie a longer leash considering they drafted him in the 5th round.

So where is Evan going, last year was his worst year outside 50 in his 3 years at 7 of 12.

2020 Jake Elliott: 72.7 FG%, 92.3 PAT%, 2-5 from 50+
2020 Randy Bullock: 80.8 FG%, 96.0 PAT%, 3-5 from 50+
2018-2020 Jake Elliott: 81.6 FG%, 92.9 PAT%, 6-14 from 50+
2018-2020 Randy Bullock: 83.8 FG%, 95.6 PAT%, 6-13 from 50+
Fans here would have rioted sometime in those 3 years before we got to Elliott's 5th year and he figured out whatever he figured out to become much better. He was objectively worse than Bullock for 3 years and there were a LOT of people who hated Bullock.

Count me as a fan who was not impressed by Bullock

Wasn't it Fat Randy who faked a calf pull or something of that nature on a missed FG? Or was that Graham?

Yes, it was our Randy. It was almost worth having him here just to see that game where the announcer actually called him "Fat Randy"

But the point made was if you were not impressed those 2 years stated , then you would have been less impressed with Elliott, correct?

Pay Mac 6 or 6.5.
We know he can be reliable and hit kicks and we'll need that in our Super Bowl runs the next few years.

Yeah, but in hindsight those were the years where we were losing so we could get better players so it all wouldaworkedout.

I pull the same move when I fail to perform in the bedroom.
On topic, it's amazing kickers make so little money seeing as when they are on the field NFL fans probably do the most praying.

Yeah they are defiantly in the don't want to count on them but "please make that 52 yard kick in the rain and 25 MPH wind to win us the game and if you miss you are dead to me," category for a lot of fans. No one wants to see them unless it is to kick the extra point but then everyone wants them to show up and be the best kicker of all time with the game on the line.

Bullock's career in CIN (4 years + 3 games) - 106 FG attempts at 84.9%, 130 XPs at 95.4%
long FG of 57. 7 out of 13 at 50+ (53.8%)
Elliott's 2017-2020 - 107 FG attempts at 82.2%, 140 XPs at 93.6%
long FG of 61. 11 out of 20 at 50+ (55%)
Talkin about the difference of just a couple kicks.
And at the end of the day, the Bengals didn't make the playoffs any of those years, so it's not like they would have missed out if they rolled with Elliott instead of Bullock.
I dunno, I felt we knew the ceiling for Bullock and what we were gonna get and would have taken the gamble on Elliott.
