Bets For This Season?!

That's 10-7. They have their work cut out for them. Any given Sunday. Too early to tell. They may go 8-9 or..they may kick azz and go 12-5. They must develop a solid run game and they must have a solid run stop D front and solid D secondary that doesn't give up to many deep balls. We don't know how these other teams are going to develop, some may really surprise.

We talk and talk and talk about how good they SHOULD be, but the great equalizer...unexpected injuries to key players can ruin plans.

I'm not underestimating anything. Burrow being under center doesn't automatically make them a good run team or a better offense.

Back tracking? You said looking like 9-8. You were forecasting injuries, throwing 40 times a game, poor running game, and laid back conservative zone defense. When Joe is healthy we won 10 games in ‘21 and the next year 12 and the Buffalo game we’d have won making 13. This team is better than ‘21 or ‘22. I’m predicting 12-5

1b It also allows the backs to hit the hole faster.

2 We'll run the ball more, making us less predictable.

3 Burrow being healthy means a lot better passing game, which means that defenses can't load the box and they'll have less time to react.

4 We have better linemen- Both Browns at tackle (and Mims), and Burrow under center will help the run game and prevent the defense from just teeing off on the pass rush.

Until you see it done, having the attitude "we'll figure it out" is just wishful thinking. There are teams that you can say they will figure it out because they've shown the ability to run the football. We aren't one of those teams.

So you are agreeing with what I posted then. I also said they could go 12-5. See that? Injuries WILL happen, just a matter of who? Pass 40 times a game can happen when Zac and Dan see the run game won't work, poor run game check, laid back Zone D check, Looks like we agree on most points. And yes they could easily go 9-8 WITH a healthy Burrow.

Hey, Sooner, I'm not trying to start a fizzle with you but every pre-season folks here think the team will go 16-1 because of this or that. Not gonna happen. Other teams try and improve too. I still say it will be a struggle for the Bengals to win the division let alone advance to playoffs.

Nothing more I'd like to see than a dominant run attack with whoever carries the ball. That WOULD make Burrow's pass game better so they wouldn't have to rely on it to bail the offense out much of the time. Moss and Brown as the RB duo and seem to be capable but, we have basically the same O'line except for RT and the same O'line coach.

The only thing we agree on is injuries could derail us. No way in hell if Burrow is healthy we go 9-8. Some of those things could make us 10-7.

We sure could go 9-8 with a good JB. Easily. See, these other teams are tryin to win too. We always lose a game or two to teams that we should not lose to. Happens every year. Or, we could go 12-5 like we both said. I just hope they don't forfeit the early part of the season and go 0-4 like recently. That's tough to overcome. That is where a 9-8 could come from.

Here's one for you... I'll bet Houston and Mixon have a great year if Mix can get over these early injuries he is dealing with. Hamstring, thigh injury? Gotta admit tho, he was pretty durable all those 7 years. A few nicks and bruises here and there but a durable RB. I hope he has a terrific year there. How is Houston O'Line and run game?

KC will be without Hollywood Brown when we play them week 2.

KC will not make the AFC Championship this year. Their injury luck has run out.

Well 9-8 with a healthy Burrow is highly unlikely but whatever. Hell we could go 17-0. With our schedule 10-7 should be the floor. As far as Mixon he will have a solid year best since 2022. Houston has a better run blocking OL than Cincy and better OL coach.

Thanks!

Are you high?!

Have you not seen how much healthier is and how he has been taking snaps under center? That will improve the run game by a great deal, and so will the line being better.

The run blocking didn't look great in preseason, but they'll get it figured out, especially once the defense realizes they can't keep too many defenders in the box because of the general Burrow threat.
Will they though?   They haven't figured it out in the Taylor era, and I'm concerned we just don't have the interior OL to get that going.   That was one of the only weaknesses of this years draft.   I'm excited about Lee, but I would rather have had the center from WVA than Jenkins.   He had some good snaps against D'vondre Sweat.

I'm psyched about the tackle situation.  I think the edges will be better this year - and getting around the edge.   But I think we'll have the same issues running up the middle.

We'll see

Might just be wishful thinking but I definitely hope so.

Like I keep saying, I think Burrow under center helps the run game out immensely and, yes, I'm still skeptical about the IOL, but Lee could keep improving so much to become the starter since he has been showing so much lately, but, at the very least, it should push Karras to improve his play.

Pats game just got a little easier. They traded Matthew Judon to Atlanta.

He has looked absolutely aces so far.  I'm totally psyched about him!

If I were the coaching staff, I might even think about starting him at center and moving Karras to guard!

They might not want a rookie snapping Burrow the ball and being his first line of defense.

I'm presenting up in Cinci on the fourth, so I'm going to stop in the Sportsbook in Hard Rock downtown on my way home and place a few bets.

Going to put a few hundred on Burrow for MVP at 9 or 10 to 1.

I still don't understand how he's not more of a favorite considering how good he was in '21 and '22 with no offensive line.

I'm going to put a few hundred on us to win the Super Bowl at +1400 and a few hundred to even make it to the Super Bowl at +700.

I'm going to find a bet or two for Chase as well.
