He sounds to me like he's pretty close.

I think RB is most likely to change with a wavier or cut pickup before season and possible DE pickup also. Overall I agree with him on 90 to 95%

Add:
Tanner McLachlin: All isn't injury free yet, but needs the practice so I expect both to start the season on the roster
D'Ante Smith due to Mims injury and Brown injury history
Zach Carter (not my choice)
Tycen Anderson - Bengals can't keep only slow safeties on the roster.

Subtract:
JayTufele - I think the Bengals value Carter more
Maema Njongmeta: Too many LBs, but maybe can replace Bachie on Special Teams.
Daijahn Anthony see above comment re speed.
Elijah Collins: Stashable on the practice squad

Basically it boils down to who will clear waivers and end up on the practice squad and who won't

I would tend to agree, he's pretty close. As was mentioned earlier, I could see Tycen Anderson making the roster, though it would be tough to let go of Anthony with that football IQ and nose for the ball.

Thought it fitting that he has neither Chris Evans nor Jackson Carman making the team.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Unless Maema Njongmeta falls flat on his face over the next two preseason games I doubt they risk putting him on the practice squad. I get it, it was a preseason game. But the dude was all over the field like a human wrecking ball.

I would be mildly surprised if they cut Anderson but they have to cut somewhere so....

Yup

I'll be mildly shocked if either makes the 53.

small sample size but Mjongmeta was highest rated player from Tampa Bay game.  Anthony has something coaches like, seems to be aware and in right spot on field.

I can't justify keeping Williams (regardless kickoff transition experience) at RB let alone Collins.  Other teams will cut better backs than either are:

https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/RB

I'd also pony up for a vet T/G like Fleming or if a team cuts an old vet due to cap concerns especially if Mjongmeta doesn't keep this pace.

Injuries could change things of course

We have two games left to learn more, but I think Jaxson Kirkland has the edge over Eric Miller for that 9th OL slot.

I'm also concerned we'll keep Trey Hill over Matt Lee because he can play guard, while Lee may be more of a Center only player. I want Lee to stick because I think he has more upside, but Hill has survived several years because he was able to slide between guard and center. Maybe they will try Lee at guard and see if he holds up?

This sentence from the article has been emblematic of Anderson's entire career:
Quote: Tycen Anderson didn’t play on Saturday, but Anthony did, and he didn’t look too bad. If you can’t be on the field, you can’t make the team (usually).

Between Carter, Tufele and Bell, I prefer Bell. I haven't really seen anything from Carter in two years that makes me think he is capable of playing at any time in the NFL. I remember at the end of his rookie season, it looked like maybe he would develop into a good run stopper, but then in his sophomore season, his snaps were just...terrible all around. Tufele hasn't been much better to my eye either.

Maybe Bell is just a pre season flash in the pan, but I liked that I actually saw hustle out of him. We'll see how the next 2 games go, but if Bell keeps disrupting the backfield and Carter and Tufele continue to do nothing, I'd hope we keep Bell over them.

they will keep a 4th RB...right now I would pencil in Collins and take out McLachlan

Add Jay Tufele to the DL rotation and Jalen Davis or Allen George into the CG group, at least until DJ Ivey is ready to go

I sure wish they would give McLachlin more reps ..this player is very impressive..reminds me of Gronk..can block, catch the ball and run

That's the 3rd time I've seen you write that: he cannot block and he is NOT Gronkowski, come on now.

I'm even rooting for him becaue Canadian, but expectations should be realistic.

If there is a 4th RB who sticks on the roster, the RB needs to be able to pass block and play ST.
Otherwise, roll with a 5th TE instead.

Injury to Cam Sample I think opens up the opportunity for the 10th DL.
This could be the chance Cedric Johnson needs to get on the roster, as it was looking very unlikely with the DE depth they had.

Terrible performance from Carman I think makes it unlikely he makes the roster now, at least unless he completely changes it around these last couple PS games.
But I can't see Smith making it either, so I lean toward the 9 OL being OBJ, TB, Mims, Ford, Cappa, Volson, Karras, Hill, and Lee.

Daijahn Anthony might knock Anderson out of that last SAF spot, and I think the CBs listed in the article end up being the 6 too with Ivey on the mend.
However, I don't agree that Turner will be the starter. I think it's Hill's job to lose at this point.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Completely agree on all points CrazyJDawg. Hope they keep Matt Lee over Trey Hill and Travis Bell over Carter and Tufele. I liked Tufele
when we initially got him but he was bad last year when we needed him to step up, Carter has always been bad except like a couple plays.

Travis Bell is a thick DT with hustle to him, doesn't look fun to block which I like that in my DL.

This is from enquirer if you can open it on projected rosters. Two main predictions is Carman will be cut and Robbins will win punter competition. Im sure we might see some cut pickups but 90% of roster is probably set.

The Bengals will add an extra NT and an extra RB thru cuts or Trade.

Trade Assets

Hudson- I think the Bengals will shop him around for a 4th RB or NT.

Hill- If one of the big three of 2025 3T free agents teams call about a trade( Lions Mcneill, Eagles Milton Williams,  and Cowboys Osa Odighizuwa) then I wouldn't be surprised if the FO pulls off a trade involving him. I do not think it's likley nor I'm I predicting said trade to happen.

Burton- something strange is brewing here; I don't think his roster spot is 100% safe like I thought it would be after the draft.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

IDK if they'll cut bait on a 3rd Rounder this year, but it was strange they had him out there returning kicks in a PS game, It's almost like: What else can you give me?
