53 man roster projection
Carman was the worst pick of the Zac Taylor era by far. Especially when you factor in the trade back that resulted in absolutely nothing (Tyler Shelvin & D’Ante Smith), and who was actually still on the board at the time (Creed Humphrey & Sam Cosmi).

Just brutal. Glad to finally be done with it.

At least Drew Sample is useful. It makes me sick thinking about us being able to take Humphrey instead of Carman. Yikes.

People who hated Mixon will miss his ball security. Few better RB's in league. Let's hope our group can secure the rock, fumbles kill momentum and drives.

He has fumbled 5 times in his career losing 2, that won't be a reason a team will pass on him. If cut hope Bengals look at him. Rumor is Pierce from Texans on cutting block, would look at him also

Has some wheels, but I want a short yardage proven TD option

Eagles also cut Uzomah, looks like his career is winding down

I was hoping they'd keep Salvon and release Jeff Wilson Jr.

Hobson is predicting Jaxson Kirkland actually has a shot to make the roster, as he's now played all OL spots but C for the Bengals.
Extremely versatile, performed well in preseason.

With how Matt Lee performed, he has to make it.

If Kirkland can back up 4 spots, they may have to take him over Hill given the health of the OTs.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins

I hear that about Humphrey all the time. Get in line. But the need was far greater for a tackle than a center. Trey Hopkins was serviceable.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

I think everyone is predicting Kirkland to make the roster.

OT was more of a need than C, but RG was the biggest need at the time.

Cosmi was excellent at RG last year, which is the spot they tried to put Carman into as a rookie.
Cosmi has also been solid at RT when he's played there his first 2 years.

And I'm not saying that just because of what Cosmi and Carman have done in 3 years.
I liked Carman some too in the draft, but I had Cosmi and Humphrey ahead of him and liked them more.
Cosmi was who I wanted when they were picking in the 2nd round.

I was very high on Humphrey that year.  He would have been a 1st round pick if not for arm length issues and the fact that he's a southpaw.

One of those classic cases where drafting for need instead of trying to get the best players blows up in your face.

Carman over Humphrey is getting old. Let's move onto Cordell Volson over Zach Tom!

Eh, Samaje Perine is still not a fumbler even if Mixon was fantastic with his ball security. He will work on it.

I would have to look at the fumbles to judge. He doesn't hold the ball like a loaf of bread or anything. Perine has good ball security
and is The Wolf Man. Tough as nails and I would like to see him stiff arming Chiefs again while he is wearing stripes.

Good pass protector too and bigger than Zack Moss. Still wanting to see Zack Moss play for us against another team.

Too bad he was sick during the Tampa game.

Its pretty unusual for the Bengals to be one of the first to announce a lot of cuts especially since they have until the 27th to do so.  I guess they didn't want some of the players sitting and wondering all weekend.

22 cuts to go, many of which will make up the practice squad.  Or I guess 21 with DJ Ivey still on PUP

True on Jalen Davis who is an underrated backup Corner. Great backup Slot Corner and can play boundary Corner to boot.

I like the early cuts BTW. Gives everyone a better idea of where they will end up.

The writing was on the wall with Carman after the Tampa game where he was a walking penalty.

Then you turn up out of shape uninterested and unwilling to learn.

Not to mention letting people down who coached you in the area and pushed the Bengals to draft you.

If I were him I’d be leaving Cincinnati and wouldn’t have the nerve to show my face in the city again.

Sure let me down, I was pimping up Carman before we drafted him, very talented had the strength and could maul anyone.

Just go and see him take Fletcher Cox for a ride when he was a rookie. I don't get it honestly.

That is the dream, to play for your favorite team in the NFL. To not give the effort to even try and be great is inexcusable.

Carman is 24 years old

Wonder if he’s a guy that’s gonna keep getting chances off potential alone and not really be average at the position until he’s about 28.

That was also a reason I liked the Carman pick, he was really young, but if his heart isn't in it none of it matters.

Doubtful, next 2 yrs are crucial for him if he does not get reps in games, he will just be bottom feeder on the line probably not get a 3rd contract

Fun Fact: Jaxson Kirkland is 2 years older than Jackson Carman

I know Creed’s Dad. Creed’s issue was he was a center. But he was always great as a run blocker as he’s strong as heck and a great pass blocker. Zac talks about drafting players that love ball. Well they should have done better homework on Carman because he doesn’t.

If the heart isn't in it is true. My dear old Dad had the chance and was trained by a pro boxing trainer here in Cincy just out of Hughes High School 18-19 years old just before WWII. After 1 month the trainer told Dad to forget it. He said as Dad told me years ago, Kid, you got all the tools , the right size (for a middleweight) you can hit, you got the foot and hand speed but you lack 1 thing and pointed to his chest, you don't have a boxers heart, you don't want to hurt anybody. And that was the end of Dad's boxing career.

It would come as a surprise to no one.  A surprise would be Kirkland not making the roster.  He has looked better than anyone as the #2 LT tackle and right now with Mims missing time he would be the guy backing up Trent Brown until Mims is healthy.   Kirkland is making the team.

So I see it as Tanner McLachlan, Tycen Anderson (ST Stud), and a RB4 not on the roster fighting for the last spot right? Or Maybe a 6th LB?
