Of course, like I posted in several articles, it seems Chase is in no hurry to sign. If he wants to be top dog, he has to wait for all the other dogs to sign their deals.

No source or anything like that but I'd almost bet there's a hold up over the number of years. I imagine Chase wants a shorter deal to get to another big one sooner.

You say he's "very good" in one post and then he's "great" in another post 5 minutes later.
You then say there are "several" WR's as good or better than 5 minutes later you say just a "few" just as good or better.
If I'm not asking too much I just want to know what you really mean.
How many is a few? How many is several? If I said there were 5 or 6 other WRs that were as good as if not better than Chase that could be a few, it could also be several. I could also say Joe Burrow is a very good QB. I could say Joe Burrow is a great QB. Both would be true. What is not true however is someone claiming Chase or Burrow is a generation talent. Neither are. Dont get mad at me because you dont understand what the words generational talent means.

Why would Chase want a shorter contract when he could just stage another hold in with years left on this next contract like he is doing with his current contract? Nothing would prevent Chase from sitting out practice with 2 or 3 years left on his next contract. He is doing the very same thing now with 2 years left. I would guess he wants a long term contract which would be for more guaranteed money and he will just stage another hold in with a few years left on it to get even more money then.

He would want a shorter contract so he can bet on himself with Burrow, pad his stats, win a SB and get a huge 3rd contract either from Cinci. or another team. Sign a 3-4 year deal and he's 28-29 when it's over which is young enough.

What would stop him from signing a longer term deal but then demanding a raise after only 2 or 3 years in to the contract? He is doing that now. Hendrickson has done that twice.

Because it's becoming more customary to extend your great players when they're eligible after 3 years? Why didn't they make Burrow play out his 5 years?

Mike Brown is literally giving interviews talking about these deals and it still just isn't enough for some people to believe it. It's truly mind-boggling. You'd think it would really piss off Katie for him to comment on things he knows nothing about due to the fact that he's merely a senile, old puppet anymore.

I think it makes sense to pay Chase now.
Contracts aren't getting any cheaper as others have said.
Chase hasn't really broken out yet--he hasn't had a league-leading type year.
Lock him up now when his value isn't higher than the market.
Makes sense to make the players happy and motivated and united.
Limit the distractions.

You forgot one problem, Chase wants to be the top of the market.

There's no way he thinks his value is higher than Jefferson if you compare stats.
I'd be okay with matching that deal.
We'd save money in the long run as opposed to waiting until the offseason when the market goes up (and his value goes up).
Might as well get it done. We have the cap space so why not?

Do us all a favor, do a search on "Top NFL WRs 2024". I did, and I looked at several lists, the consensus has Jamarr Chase ranked 4th or 5th. Can we finally lay this "generational talent" thing to rest?
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

He doesn't make any decisions, he's just the mouthpiece of the franchise because of the eye-candy factor.

what defines a WR is yards receptions and TD's Chase through 3 seasons including playoffs is 3rd 4th and 8th in the history of the NFL thats ever played that isn't generational to you?

I always figured the best way to get a big-ass contract is to go on the open market and bank on a desperate GM who is going to get fired any second now giving you way too much money because either you'll be good and save his job, or you won't live up to the insane contract and that won't be his problem because he'll be gone. That may apply to the #2 guys more than the #1 guys, though. I mentioned that with Tee, where instead of being a #2 here he'd likely get a stupidly big payday from the doomed GM of some 4-win NFC team who needs to catch lightning in a bottle and hope Tee can be a top tier #1 or he's gone.

Ok, he has the final say, so you think if Katie, Troy, Duke, and Zac say "this is the move we need to make," Mike's going to say no?
He was against a practice bubble for so long, as well as hiring more scouts, and doing other things like improving the medical staff/facilities, but you think, at 89, he suddenly said "oh, I'll evolved to fit the rest of the league 20+ years after most other franchises"?
Look, I know he has the final "say," but how much do you think he's really making decisions or influencing anyone else to do anything?

Does everyone make the playoffs?
JJ, right now, is more "generational" than Ja'Marr and i loooove Ja'Marr (not that way though). JJ has put up better consistent numbers with a worse QB. That's not to say JC can't because he put up almost 1500 and 13 TDs in the one and only season that he and Burrow played the entire year healthy.
It would be nice to see them do that for the next couple years so that Chase could challenge for that #1 spot. The term 'generational' doesn't really fit any current WR because there are several guys who can put up pretty much the same numbers as each other.

the extra games from playoffs on the yards receptions td's thing gives you a bonus of being on a winning team and playing more games and neutralizes a little bit of days gone by 16 game schedules Moss is a monster in all 3 he is generational OBJ first 3 stack up to be generational JJ and Chase both generational passes the eye test.

a new add on of late. Chad Johnson says he doesn't expect Chase to step on a football field until a new deal is done.
In that case, could Mike Brown suit up and take some NFL hits in his place ???
