Rookies
#1
Sorry if I missed a post about this already out there, but I was so impressed with how the rookies played against Indy. Couple of the Dlibe rookies got sacks, Newton looks good, All made some plays, Burton is a beast and it just kept going. I believe we got some much needed depth back. I wasn’t a fan of this past draft at all, but I have to say they are proving me wrong so far. This might be the deepest we’ve been in 10 years or so. Can’t wait for the season to start. Hope Murphy heels up and comes back strong. There are a couple players cut I would mind us grabbing but all in all I’m pretty content and ready. Who-Dey mofos Let’s Go!!!!!

Well most teams do well with their picks in the first 3 rounds. But when you strike gold with Trey Smith (6) KC Puka Nacua (5) SF you really shine. Right now Eric All and Burton look solid and of course Mims. Jenkins will be solid don’t know if he ever cracks the lineup. But Matt Lee looks to be a huge steal and the UDFA linebacker. It looks like a great draft with very limited time so far
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

This is not accurate according to this guy's in-depth analysis of draft picks.

NFL Draft Pick Bust Rate Remains Very High - Daily Norseman

Drafting is hard for every NFL team. This was 2022 and prior I believe, but I think the drafting of 3 or 4 QB's in top 10 or 15 of drafts has not panned out for many teams.

I think once past round 2, a lot of misses occur for teams.

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

Thanks for posting that. It’s much harder for 5-7 rounders to make a team much less start. Do you agree there?

Smith should have never fallen that far. The heart thing scared some teams away I think, but the size and talent were there at Tennessee. He should have never made it out of the 3rd rd.

Check out that steal Chicago got in Austin Booker in round 5.  Wow.

But it’s about KC getting him there. My point is they got him as a 6th rounder. Those type of hits make teams great.

Newbie ??

I pretty much love this draft, so far. Who knows how it will play out. My only grip is not taking a 4th round RB.

Right, some of the big hits are definitely injury concern guys.

Imagine Rodney Anderson staying healthy for us.

I wasn't surprised TBH. I think as long as Burrow and Zac are with this team, we are going to be a pass-first offense.

It’s not just injury guys. When you find starters out of 5-7 round guys and have them on long term rookie deals it’s Christmas. That’s how KC has built their roster. I think their ‘22 group 7-8 got a ton of snaps

I think they liked Moss and Chase Brown. And this is the important thing is they needed a NT after Reader left. Round 3 they took Burton and McKinley Jackson. Burton was a steal and Jackson pure need. So they go for Eric All in the 4th. He looks to be a steal. You have deal with what’s needed and who’s available. Maybe if there been a steal in the 4th at running back they’d pulled the trigger. But All was a steal.

What do you guys know about Gore JR? Showcased pretty well in the last preseason game. We may be looking at some of the RB cuts. I don't know much about him other than his pedigree and a couple of the heads really seem to like him.

I've got a bit of a man-crush on Matt Lee. With Mims, Lee and the emergence of Kirkland I feel better about OL depth than maybe ever. Burton seems like Chris Henry 2.0. If that's all he ever is that's enough. I think that at least 1 of the 2 TEs will be serviceable. The DTs may have been a miss; the platooning that occurs there will provide an opportunity to find out during the season.

2025 is the year to draft a RB; there are good RBs of all kinds.

Too early to call Kris Jenkins a miss imo.  Mims looks like a homerun with the major caviat being injury concerns.  Matt Lee total steal, Newton total steal.  Burton has all the talent in the world but everyone knew that the question is can he mature.  Time will tell.

I know everyone is on the Matt Lee wagon right now I'm a little on the fence about the 290lb center playing this season lol.

I came way very impressed by Jaxson Kirkland who play both LG/RG against the Bucs then played LT & RT against the Bears and Colts respectively. He wasn't even getting snaps in training camp at OT until Carman vs Bucs disaster.

Bold prediction: our "backup" guard is going to be Karras. They'll slide him over and then have Lee come in at Center.

May have been a miss before either has taken a regular season NFL snap?  Pretty wild take.
