Didn’t even make a practice squad? Not ours not anybody’s.

Wow. Was that our worse miss since Ross?

Hopefully lessons were learned.

Can he line up at wr?

I would have put him on the practice squad. He is still young and could get better. They must really not like him if they wont even sign him to the practice squad.

Disappointed.

Thought he was a reasonable option as a back up LT.

Onward and upward.

Was really hoping to see him line up at LT for a division opponent. But when ya suck, ya suck.

Admittedly, I'm surprised. I saw flashes but what do I know. Especially at evaluating onlinemen

We all owe Carmen Jackson a ton of gratitude. He single handily moved Mike Brown out of the draft room.

Where did you hear this? I’ve seen it listed before but wondering if there are some quotes, or article to read. Interesting if true

There was an entire article on it when Carmen was drafted.  "Mike Brown gets his man."  Detailing the push Paul Alexander gave to Mike, as well as MIke's infinity for local players.

I know for a fact inside the building that not everyone was on board with the pick and this lead to tempered animosity over the last couple of years.  Carmen was not well respected by all his teammates. I never heard anyone say they didn't like Jackson, but his work ethic was not close to acceptable.

I’m not doubting it. I just wanted to read about it, if the details were there. Like how that pick single hand-idly made brown not force his opinion? Would like to just read that if it was documented

The article was easy to find online at the time.  I looked for it again last year and didnt see it.  Im sure it is still out there somewhere.

I do NOT know who the coaches wanted in that second round but Jackson wasn't it.

There's a bit of speculation or however you want to put it ? On a lot of topics in here. However, it's not going out on to big a limb to speculate MB was involved in the Carman draft (IMHO).

And more speculation on my part. But it sure seemed to me Carman just didn't really have his heart in football.

I remember the article. Don’t remember the details, either.

You know, PA gets a lot of hate around here. I didn' t like him either with his "fall back and catch" lineman philosophy. That said, he really is a well respected line coach across the league. Alexander may have been pushing Carman, but so was Willie Anderson. Someone want to hack on Big Willie as well? Carman had the tools, he just didn't have the heart to do what it took at this level. Paul went to the Cowboys for one season after he left here and cant get back in the league.

Met Willie multiple times, great guy.  Despite his nonstop efforts to become an NFL coach, no team will hire him.

I believe that "well respected" coaches can get jobs.  And we all know that great players dont necessarily make great evaluators or coaches.

Perhaps it is fair to say Big Willie whiffed on supporting Carman. I can appreciate and love Willie the player and also recognize he's not the perfect talent evaluator.

Willie, same as Paul Alexander, runs a business where draft prospects pay him to work with and help develop them.  Why?  To improve their draft stock.  For their business to be successful, they need to be getting the kids they work with drafted as high as possible.  And if they have personal relationships in team FO's they can use to accomplish that, damn right, they're going to try to take advantage.

Same with TJ and Burton's maturity issues.

Just because it's a former Bengal doesn't mean there's any credibility.

He has no heart. Sad, he had all the talent just doesn't want to be great at football, at all.
