Bengals Not Focused On Winning
#1
Contracts, Contracts, Front Office and Contracts.  Don't play anybody in Pre-Season, just let them play themselves into shape in Week One.  Lose Week One, and keep talking about Contacts, Contracts, Contracts.  Don't FOCUS in at The Chiefs who are far better than Patriots who Bengals just Bungled and Fumbled looking awful against.

If all the Chase type stuff continues to take Center Stage, and Bengals go into Back To Back Super Bowl Champs Kansas City after a poor week of Practice, The Chiefs are going to destroy The Bengals.

You are only as good as you practice.  The Patriots game showed the many NO Shows and poor Practices by Bengals.  I blame The Front Office on Down,

Kansas City will show up to play football.  They will not take Bengals light due to the play-off games Bengals have faced them in last few years.  The Chiefs will be ready.  The question is, will The Bengals be ready, or are they going to jerk around in practice again this week.

That was a bad Patriots team Bengals just lost to.  Bengals weren't ready to play football, that simple.  If the Non Focused Contract Dispute Bengals sleepwalk al week, Kansas City will beat them 50 to 0, and some Bengals will get injured in the process,

It was, what it was.   Bengals didn't get ready to play in Week One, and it showed.  That game was lost before it began, by having just awful weak practices and lack of Focus. Anybody that thinks that team was ready to play football Sunday, saw a different game than I did.  Bengals after entire off season were not ready, and it showed. I'm as upset at The Front Office as I am anybody.

Does This Team Want To Play This Season, Or Not ???....Kansas City is going to clobber them if they don't want to play this season.

Even I thought "it's just the Patriots. Bengals are heavy favorites. The Bengals will still win despite sitting starters in preseason games and all the contract distractions." But the Bengals looked like a team that wasn't ready to start the season.

And then some !!

Lacking focus, no sense of urgency, not understanding the plan, not having a plan, uninformed, not knowing the plays, not knowing the system, not having a system, not having a plan. One could go on and on.

It's now a part of the ZT system.

1) many good teams have the contract drama..that's the NFL ..whatever is going on with chase had no impact on the team..did with fans like ourselves..but that's it...and the man played  2)you dont know how strong or weak the Bengals practices were. 3) This team will either win or lose because of Burrow and I think the wrist surgery and outcome  will not be that good..there is something amiss with Burrow

why do all the excuse makers refer to "contract distractions"   aside from maybe Burrow who is chases good friend..the majority of players on that team could care less and were not even paying attention..we fans were..but I do agree..once again the team looked not ready to start the season

Allen Iverson and Armon Binns would disagree with this statement lol.

Iverson was notorious for not going hard during practices but he showed up in games.
Binns was a practice darling who never actually amounted to anything in real games.

So no, you can be good in practice when you don't have as much to worry about but bad when it matters because the mental gets to you and you're getting fully hit rather than practice hit from a teammate.
On the flip side, some dudes have the ability to turn it on for games and don't really need the practice.

Bengals are not the latter lol.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Ida know, Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones had the biggest contract distraction and dispute bruhaha going into week 1 and they still went into Cleveland and made the Browns look worse than we've been able to since the Johnny Manziel days.

This. We act like our team is incapable of over coming any distractions when other teams do it without issue. Yesterday was a lack of focus, will and leadership.

I'm sorry, but the "contract distraction" excuse goes out the window when the guy that was actually at the center of it is one of the few guys that showed up to play on offense...on 3-4 days of practice, no less.

If the other 52 guys on this team are more distracted by Ja'Marr Chase's contract than Ja'Marr Chase himself, we've got a very mentally weak football team.

More likely, despite it being the opener, they were looking past the Pats to KC, as we've been known to do.

That's a real stretch to use NBA Allen Iverson as a reason why Bengals don't have to practice hard.  And how do we know Bengals didn't practice hard ?  Look at preseason games, players taking off practices and how none of the team was ready to play Week One.   Most coaches say you are as good as you practice, which is why The Bengals looked like The Bungles in Week One.

Plus in Iverson, you can have good basketball or baseball All-Star Games.  You can not have good football All-Star games, because the team work takes time and practice. It's easy for some to blame just Burrow, but the blocking, tackling, running, catching wasn't there,  Some plays it looked like day one of being handed the playbook, and nobody on the same page.   Basketball and Baseball are games some individuals can show up and play, but Football is a team concept and in great detail playbooks, and so Football takes practice, which The Bengals showed they lacked in Week One.

The Bengals need to hit the old dusty trail and be put through some good practices, or they can lose every game.

I also know plenty of teams that may practice "hard" but still suck in real games because they just aren't that good.

My high school hockey team was one of them lol.

For the record though, I'm not saying the team isn't practicing hard.
I'm just saying some people (e.g. Allen Iverson) don't need to practice hard always and can still show up fine in real games.

And btw, I am not sure if you interpreted my words incorrectly when I said the Bengals are not the latter, but I literally said in the post you replied to that the Bengals are not the kind of team that can go play well on game days without practice...

Was Dak Prescott a "hold-in" during preseason -- the team not knowing each day whether or not he would practice -- and was he a "game day decision" for the game on Sunday? I really don't know, but I couldn't find anything, so I guess he was fully engaged in practice and the Cowboys knew he was playing on Sunday even without a new contract. I could be wrong.

I think those hoping they just weren’t ready will be disappointed. They’re just not good, especially the defense.

Speaking of Cowboys, Dak's is the biggest contract now for QBs, CeeDee Lamb got extended, and they have a better defense than Bengals with Zimmer now running it. I guess my point is they are more focused than Bengals on winning. But it is the Cowboys, their wheels will fall off in playoffs lol.
