Burrow had a clean pocket most of the game but yet we got no push in the ground game is it the scheme the playcalling, the players all 3? Nobody on this line run blocks even average.
Why is our line great pass blockers but poor run blockers

Great pass blockers? Are you serious? lmfao
theyre probably DECENT at best at pass protection. It's because you are of such profound wisdom, Frank Booth. - SunsetBengal

I think they played a team that didn't have a great pass rush. Also, the Bengals only threw about 5 or 6 balls more than 10 yards in the air. Pretty easy to pass block in that scenario.

Gives me some hope and also Volson playing better than anybody in this game is a good sign. Volson was bad early last season and our run blocking was bad as well early. If we can get some semblance of a running game going and stick with it we shouldn't be in such a tough spot.

Two reasons:
1) Lack of identity, specifically true go-to plays. We run inside zone, power doubles/duos and quick traps - but majority are out of shotgun. We do utilize outside zones and some pulls from behind center, but not often. 2) We are a pass first Team. I know it sounds insane, given that majority of our first down plays are runs. I don't feel that we are better at pass blocking vs. run blocking. It is more related to scheme. Our O-Line is not making a living 5 yards passed the line of scrimmage like the O-lines in the 80s. But we are not a power run Team and are not asking our guys to be one.

This is the key to unlocking the running game.

pass pro you are holding a spot
Run blocking you are moving a grown man out of a spot Different skill sets

We both pass blocked and run blocked well. However we also abandoned the run for no reason, were in shotgun WAY too much and Burrow had a terrible day as a QB.

Exactly ! * was coming to say pretty much what these two posts said. Both perfectly stated. The line last season wasn’t exactly good, but the way this offense is ran makes an offensive line look worse by nature.

I asked this in another thread, but don't remember where. Chase Brown is the 2nd fastest player in the NFL, why are we not tossing him the ball in space and letting him use his speed?

Just not sure they have either the scheme or the OL to be able to get outside and get out in front and get to the second level. Still need guys to block the edge.

Aggressive natured guys are naturally better run blockers, because they want to show the defender that he can be moved.
