It is imperative that Burrow plays the entire season healthy, regardless if the Bengals make the playoff. Playing this year healthy will give Burrow psychological oxygen (a breather) from dings, Rehab, and injuries. He needs a healthy year badly. Let's look at Burrow's injury history the last few years...
-hand/wrist: injuries in 2017, 2021, & 2023.
-Ribs: 2020 during national championship game.
-knees: MCL/ACL/PCL & meniscus tear 2020; grade 1 knee strain 2022, grade 2 MCL strain 2022
-calf: probably grade 2-3 strain in 2023.
These prior injuries are a lot to deal with, even for the Superman QB in Burrow. Injuries accumulate psychological toil and the athlete begins to doubt his or her career in the sport. I believe prior injuries are affecting his play early in the season. Pervasive doubt is the death knell for an athlete in sports. Burrow needs to believe that health is possible. It would be nice and go a long way if Burrow can play the entire season relatively healthy from major injury. It would be even greater if the Bengals to make it back and win the Super Bowl. But the best case scenario is for the Bengals to win the Super Bowl with a healthy Burrow.

That would be great, but I'm not so sure he's fully healed from the wrist injury yet.

I dont think hes healthy now. They asked Zak if he was healthy today and he said "I think so"
That means nope reading between the lines and watching how he played Sunday.
It's upsetting because we've been waiting for a game changer like Burrow forever and finally get one and the front office mismanaged the whole thing not protecting him with players and proper coaching.
Hoping he comes out Sunday and lights it up...one can hope right?

I think FO attempted to protect him. The knee injury his first year was due to M Jordan incompetence of turning a player into his QB if I remember correctly. FO has drafted many OL that are simply misses in the draft. Maybe with better and larger draft personnel. they would do better but it has been argued by many the FO simply misses on OL players in the draft. That did get Volson later rounds but It is not like the FO has not tried. They drafted Mims. They traded for Brown.
This is what concerns me. It seems like bad "Luck". That is horrifying. Why? Because luck implies there is no control. Bad luck haunts an athlete. It is one step from fate.

It's weird. QB's like Burow and Herbert are starting to rack up the injuries and slow down.
I saw a list of each starting QB by age and Burrow was in the middle. He's not a young guy any more. Not old either.

volson isnt a homerun after 1 good game this year. He's still been bad.
attempting to protect, and then failing at it due to whiffing in the draft still counts as failing to protect Burrow.

I completely agree. This season is a make or break year for Burrow. If he gets hurt again he becomes damaged goods in my mind. Sometimes I truly believe we are just cursed. Our bad luck can't really be understated. The one year we had health and the breaks go our was was 2021 and even then when it came down to it the refs found a way to screw us and take the super bowl away. That was our chance unfortunately. I hope Burrow proves me wrong but it's not looking good.

Exactly. In 2021 we were all PLEADING for the Bengals to take Burrows health seriously and their answer was Riley Reiff. I was hoping they would address the O-line seriously his rookie year but they didnt, and it cost em....So 2021 comes and they STILL refused to seriously address the issue. Had they done that we would have a super bowl trophy right now and Burrow might not be coming off his 2nd serious injury with us. Mike Brown will always be Mike Brown. The scum he is.

If he’s 100%, the Bengals need to look for a new qb.

not to mention they grabbed VALUE guys in free agency. Collins was a whiff, Reiff was a whiff, the current RT that used to be on the pats is a whiff.
they got them at good "values" for a reason

dude..people like you are living in fantasyland...you ever watch Mahommes and others run for their lives on every play..our offensive line is decent.Burrows calf and wrist injuries have nothing to do with the offensive line..he's fragile and may not ever be the same

Volson was never to be a "homerun", he was a small school prospect who showed good promise. He's taken his lumps, he's developed, he's hardened since then. He's currently the best rated OL on the Bengals.
As he an OBJ continue to develop chemistry, the running lanes on the Left side should be wide open.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

The wrist was a fluke thing. Same with the calf. But he does take a lot of hits.

burrow could cement himself in history if he tries to throw lefty and succeeds. Has there ever been an ambidextrous passer? lol.
He did not play well in G1 but his mind is better than anything else hes' got out there, just make the decision and throw the ball - with your left hand lol.

Sometimes it does not matter what you do for a player if they are injury prone (someone of his injuries involved no contact and little contact), , lets hope this year he can get through the year without an injury, i agree with the post, it would be a mental lift for Burrow and organization if that can happen

Lol my god..it's been one week. To come to the conclusion that he is a better player or good player after one week of football after 2 bad years is crazy. At least give it 4-5 games of consistent play. It's not like the Patriots D-line is full of world beaters.

They finally got past the Bo Jackson curse....time to get past the Greg Cook curse.

I agree with your sentiment here, but going back to the end of last season, he's quietly stacked 4-5 good games in a row. Someone posted his numbers the last few weeks of last season on here a while back. Maybe/hopefully he's turning a corner.

If the wrist is going to be an issue for the rest of his career, the Bengals need to try to bait a stupid team like the Raiders into trading for him. We will be in cap hell forever if he can't play at the level we are paying him for.
I think this next game is going to show us what we really have going forward.
I'm cautiously optimistic.
