Just saying........
A balanced offense is welcome. I don't think the Burrow/Shotgun offense appears to be a dominate NFL offense.

Im assuming..., those that think KC didnt look good vs the Ravens, that you guys think the Bengals looked like an unorganized, talentless, inept, soft, pathetic pile of dog excrement unworthy of being considered an NFL caliber team vs the Patriots? Tough crowd.

I think you have been waiting since starting this thread for an opportunity to really express your opinion about how we looked last Sunday.

The Bengals looked listless and error prone against the Pats. There were flashes including an entire TD drive where the potential was visible then they inexplicably turned away from what was working.

I dont think we looked that horrendously bad. Here is my theory regarding my fellow posters and the assessments of the Chiefs play vs the Ravens and ours vs the Pats.
If you think the Chiefs DID look good vs the Ravens and that the Benglas were pretty bad vs the Pats, then hope exists for the Bengals to be a good team as the bar to become good isnt unreachable.
If you think the Chiefs did NOT look good vs the Ravens and that the Benglas were much worse vs the Pats, then we are screwed this season. KC wasnt even good? And we were levels below them? That mountain is likely too high to reach "good" status.
If you think the Chiefs did NOT look good vs the Ravens and that the Benglas were NOT THAT BAD vs the Pats, then your homerism is elite and you deserve all of the gold star stickers. Bless your heart.
I think KC looked good, not great, but good vs the #1 defense from last season, as well as vs Lamar's throwing (outside of to Likely) & Henry rushing and a solid Ravens roster. Thus I see the "good" level and it is reachable.

That is second level strategery, my friend.
My thoughts are related more to the term "look." Winning and looking good is great. Winning and NOT looking good is just as great. It is very difficult to "look" good vs the Ravens.
We lost because Burrow seemed hesitant, couldn't establish first down runs, and could not stop the run. Aside from Stevens dropping 120 yards on us, it was the Brissett's runs out of pocket to extend early drives. Those were the back breakers.
I feel that this was a game where the Bengals thought our D would hold them to 10 points or less. The body language of our guys after going three and out on the first two drives, gave me the impression that we thought we are going to get them sooner or later.
There is so much to analyze and opine as to what went wrong and what needs to be addressed on offense moving forward, that a dissertation on philosophy and QB utilization can be written.
At this point in the season, unfortunately; changing philosophy and play book is not realistic. The personnel we have is the personnel we have. The issue last Sunday was EXECUTION on offense, which left our D exposed and on the field for far too long - even before their run game got established.

Excellent take. In my opinion the offense lost the game, but hope exists due to the belief Burrow wont be this bad all season, Chase had no reps, Tee was injured, and the oline was solid.
The defense held a bad offense to few points, but we knew coming into the game they were going to run and we couldnt stop them, and at the end of the game needing a stop we gave up 2 first downs on the ground. I do not see any personnel factors that would realistically improve the defense like I can with the offense. We have backups on IR, they will provide some help... but we are seemingly counting on the current guys just becoming better football players? Is that realistic? We witnessed these same guys get run over all last season. Nothing changed vs the Pats. It appears they are who they were.
I said it earlier, if Lou turns this defense around the rest of the season it will be his best coaching ever.

Perhaps if someone can concoct a sitcom-grade scheme to convince Burrow that it is the AFC championship game and not week 2. Joe....you got concussed so badly in week 1 that you completely blacked out for the entire season BUT on the plus side we are the #2 seed and we play the AFC championship game today in KC and it's at 4pm for some reason because of reasons. Anyways, it isn't week 2 so you are awesome now so go win this thing. And it's warm outside at this time of year because a weather controller machine was invented while you were blacked out.
Oh also, you probably forgot that I loaned me $10 million last week.

Was a throw away comment I heard on a show, before they went off the air, but the guy said something close to "Watch the Bengals offensive tackles. They give away the play every time. Just watch them." No idea what he means, but if there is a tell on the offense, good chance someone else has also noticed it.

I can believe that after seeing how opposing D's are able to stop our O so easily at times.
