Joe Burrow can never ice a game

And your 2nd highest paid QB in the league needs to throw a better ball.

Both of those statements can be true at the same time. Iosivas is still a developing player, he needs to anticipate the ball on the break better. Burrow has had the luxury of 2 star WRs for years and should likely have led Andrei a little more. But I can also see Burrow not wanting the possibility of hanging a ball out in space, either.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Sometimes it is okay to throw it a little behind a WR so the pass doesn't lead him into getting hurt by a big hit.

Might of been the case on that throw to Yoshi.

Loved that first TD toe tap by Yoshi though, that was fantastic and shows how much he has grown from his rookie year.

OH MY GOD the audacity of me to give a detailed take on a team's fan page!!! The horror. Shut your mouth if you can't take some honest critiques dude. Go elsewhere if u only want to hear about unicorns and rainbows. The cold hard truth is he isn't up there with the top guys. Hes good, not great. Until further notice. You can kiss the college national championship ring all you want but when our guy is making 55 mil a year I expect more. And you should too.

This is just factually wrong

If we call “Ice the game” as scoring to go up 2 scores late in a game, or running so much clock on your last drive your opponent has no way of coming back then I’m 100% sure Burrow has done that plenty times and I’d even put money he’s done it even MORE times than his numbers say BUT the defense gave up points on last drive or something.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but I think he's one piece of an offense as a whole that simply cannot ice games. Timid playcalling, dropped passes, penalties.

The offense had the ball. They had a chance to put the game away. They couldn't even get a field goal out of it.

Gotta score points if you want to beat these guys and take the refs out of the equation.
Everything in this post is my fault.

Traditionally, "icing a game" meant simply handing the ball off to run out the clock.

On the drive Burrow fumbled for a TD, Gesicki dropped the pass that would have gotten a 1st down instead of the play that resulted in the fumble.

On the final drive Joshi drops a 1st down on 2nd and 6.
Great call by their DC on the sack on 3rd and 6.

Overall this was a very even game on both sides of the ball.
KC got the defensive touchdown to win the game and that was the difference.

Can't have defensive touchdowns against you.
Have to fault Burrow even though he wasn't put in a great spot by his team.

Overall I came away from this game more encouraged than anything.
Bengals played with the Chiefs and very easily could have won the game.

They have to figure out how to get Chase going, or otherwise need to just keep feeding those tight ends underneath Chase.
Chase got locked down a lot.
But the tight ends got open a lot, too.

I liked the game plan.
Erase the Burrow fumble and I think we win the game.

From that standpoint, Burrow could have had a better game.
Gesicki can't drop 1st downs.
Joshi can't either.
I can't wait for Burton to be unleashed because him and Chase aren't dropping shit.

...

Gameplan for next Chiefs game:
Continue to feed tight ends.
Design more plays for Burton and Higgins.
Get the ground game going as well.

On defense, tighten up the run D.
Don't allow the deep TDs.
Don't play bench players on crucial downs.

In the Marvin Lewis era, Bengals teams would begin running out the clock midway through the second quarter.  Ninja

That’s true! Some teams play prevent defense. Marvin had a prevent offense.

LOL. yep if you made this comment on Reddit you would be downvoted into oblivion
The fans on that sub are way too sensitive and cant handle one thread of criticism or counter opinions
But I think your comment has some merit...JB is still elite (when on his game) but maybe not as god like as everyone portrays him as.
If he can make it though this season without missing games or getting on IR again and get us DEEP into playoffs that will change my thoughts on this

It's because it's not true.

Arif Haasan from PFF's analytics department recently did an article and video on "Clutch QBs" it shows Joe Burrow as one of the more clutch QBs in the NFL but also the one screwed most by his defense.

I have the Heart of a Lion! I also have a massive fine and a lifetime ban from the Pittsburgh Zoo...

He's failed to ice KC in two consecutive games.

I'm not sure how anyone can watch the last two matchups against KC and say this with a straight face.

Arif Haasan is probabaly the best analyst at PFF. He does excellent content definitely worth watching his stuff.

So it's Burrow's fault receivers dropped passes?

EDIT: at least in the most recent one. I can't remember the game from over a season ago.

This article is focused on Herbert but has a ton of "clutch" stats on all of QBs in the 2020 draft.
