Seems like the Panthers whiffed on Young. It's kind of hard to tell though because it seems the entire team is bad.  Also recent former Alabama QBs have not exactly made a name for themselves aside from Tua.  I guess you could sort of count Hurts but he finished his college career at Oklahoma.

If Bryce Young is irredeemable, and he has looked atrocious so far, it's Ryan Leaf territory in terms of disasters at #1 overall.

Not really, the Panthers should be in prime position to select a top QB in next year's draft. And the contract money lost is comparatively small, compared to the days when top picks held their teams up for ransom to be the highest paid players in the league.

I was hoping out loud for this just last week. It'll be good to see him back in action once again, even if it's against us. Improves their odds a bit, but we still should be able to handle them. And it adds some extra spice to the matchup, that's for sure.

If he beats us you must eat your words, and our season is over. Lol

Fair enough, but if we can't beat Andy and the pitiful Panthers then we were never going to get very far anyway.

If it were just the pick itself that's one thing. And even a wasted first rounder can set your franchise back a bunch. The Panthers also gave up one of their best WRs in DJ Moore, as well as two first rounders, two second rounders and a fourth round pick.

That is unmitigated disaster. Ryan Leaf/Jamarcus Russel disaster territory.

Ida know, the Panthers not only missed by not taking CJ Stroud (or really anyone other than Bryce Young) but they traded up and got rid of a buttload of draft capital and they traded McCaffrey and Moore (aka the only two Panthers players any can name) and they also moved on from Baker and Darnold who are showing they are at least guys who can hold down the fort while you build a team.  They blew things up for Bryce Young, specifically.

A #1 overall pick QB getting the hook after 19 games is pretty nuts, but add in that the team that took him traded up to get him and was a 7 win team with QB play from two busts and an XFL/practice squad guy the year before.  Oof.  David Tepper is a meddlesome owner to trade anyone of note and make a talent bankrupt team onto which he will draft a QB who is like 5'8 and 190lbs.

The Red Rifle. I wish him the best against any other team. He gave us a lot of exciting, but fall short years.

Yeah, I forgot how much they paid to move up for Young. I'll say this, the previous Panthers owner had some serious issues but putting together a competitive football team wasn't one of them. The current ownership of that team makes Mike Brown look like a football genius.

As much as it sucks that Mike Brown coasts and is a crap "born to be our forever GM" the whole Snyder and Tepper sagas show that a guy who is relatively self-made buying the team is no guarantee things will work out as they can go way overboard with that whole "I'm rich, so I'm right about everything and a super genius in all aspects of life including those in which I have absolutely no experience."

It seemed like Frank Lloyd Reich and Josh McCown who are both former players and coaches liked Stroud better than Young, but Tepper kind of pulled the whole "Yeah...you guys are football lifers but if we compare bank accounts I have more money than you so I'll be making this call."

Dalton very casual opening drive TD.

Apparently it was the first opening drive TD for the Panthers in 21 games? Holy shit football life has been brutal in NC. Lol
