PFF - 2 CBs in the Top 20 coverage
#1
Believe it or not, the Bengals have two guys on PFF's Top 20 coverage ratings for CBs.
Dax Hill is 18th at 75.6 coverage rating. He has a 71.3 rating overall.
CTB is...1st! He has an elite 88.6 coverage rating with 83.5 rating overall.

I just thought it was worth singing some praises for this CB group, especially for Hill, who many were super down on after last season.
If Hill keeps it up, he'll be a good starting CB in the league and have a long career.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Imagine if we had someone else that could get pressure like Trey

They do. When Logan Wilson comes on that delayed blitz, he brings the heat.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I do think Murphy will be that dude. Let’s see what Jenkins can do.

i believe our 2 Linebackers Wilson and Pratt are in the top 5 of tackles too

if we can get the Big guys up front healthy.  D should be a top unit

I was gonna post where they are too, but I wanted this thread focused just on CTB and Hill.
Here's where Wilson and Pratt stand:

Coverage:
Wilson - 7th highest LB with elite 81.9 coverage grade
Pratt - 42nd highest LB with underwhelming coverage grade of 59.6

Overall:
Wilson - 5th overall LB with elite 87.4 grade
Pratt - 19th overall LB with good 72.7 grade
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins

Agree with you Frank.

They need some pass rush other than Hendrickson.

Murphy and Hill being out really puts a damper on it.
Rankins now injured and still not practicing as of yesterday may worsen it even more.

DL is in real tough shape right now with what looks to be a starting DL of Hendrickson-Guy-Carter-Hubbard.
You can swap Guy/Carter out for Ossai and probably swing Hubbard inside on that for clear passing situations, but still not that good.

Carter is not nearly as far enough along in his development at this point in his career than I thought he would be.
I was optimistic when he was drafted, seeing as I looked into him a lot leading up to the draft.
He was more of a 3-4DE body-wise but he played across the entire DL and was getting sacks and pressure in college.
I thought for sure he just needed some more bulk and would turn into a solid pass rushing 3T after a year or two of grooming.
Through 2 games this season, he has 0 credited pressures on 37 pass rush snaps.

Ossai, Carter, Tufele combined have 0 total pressures.
Rankins and Hill have just 2 each.
Hubbard with 4.
Hendrickson carrying the load with 12 already.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season

Awesome!!! Love what I have been seeing from CTB and Dax coming around at boundary Corner I knew would take time. Get our
tackling more secure and yes we could have the top duo with the amount of talent going on here. Love our Slot Corner in Hilton too
who made a great late tackle against those Chiefs on the sideline.

I will keep it to talking about Corners in your thread Ochocincos, I agree with others that if we can get Murphy in there growing as
a pass rusher along with Trey who is balling out it could really help out our Corners.

Just like CTB isn’t better suited for safety. Wink

But yeah, If Dax keeps it up I’ll gladly douse this ***** in hot sauce and eat every bite.

Since we get no push and pressure from inside, I wish our DT's would learn to get their hands up. Guy is most likely extremely limited next couple of weeks, but he is 6'4" so if he can't get to QB, he needs to read QB and bat some balls up or in the ground.

He would be nice if Carter or Ossai (or both) would get better quickly. Great teams have guys step up when starters go down, in our case the DL has not. If not for Trey, our pass rush would be non-existent. We need to confuse Daniels and any rookie we play with different looks and timely blitz packages. It would be helpful if we could get out to a lead and make teams one dimensional.

It is no secret Washington will attempt to run with a combination of RB's and Daniels. Daniels is very talented, this game may be a shootout,

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

This is great and hopefully solidifies the DB room for awhile.

We need to play for 2024, but we also have a young Turner, Battle and Anthony in our secondary. It would be scary good if these guys step up this year and beyond. Then there is also Ivey, Newton and Anderson.

I hope Murphy is back by week 5 and we get our 2 rookies DT's back by then as well.
