Trey- Brilliant but not much of a run blocker.

Hubbard- If he was a horse he would have been shot.

Rankins-Waste of money

BJ- A rotational piece in 21 is now our premier IDL says a lot

Murphy- You’d expect more of a 1st round pick.

Ossai- like a girl who wears a push up bra flatters to deceive.

Carter- Give me a break.

Pratt- Moments of magic moments he looks lost.

Wilson- Where has the ball hawk/ guy who had Lamar’s number gone?

Dax- **** off and when you get there **** off again.

CTB- Propelled in to a CB1 spot he wasn’t ready for needs to stfu.

Bell- The brain is there unfortunately the legs aren’t anymore.

Stone- We got fleeced.

Hilton- Love the guy but you barely even notice he’s on the field anymore.

Battle- Did he eat Lou’s last chicken nugget? He’s a better option than Bell at the moment.

Turner- How bad do you have to be to lose out to that waste of space?

ADG- Been our best LB this season which doesn’t say a lot.

I know there’s more but it’s 6am and I’m ***** seething.

Oh also Jenkins our 2 round pick who it turns out sees about as well as a guy in a bar who’s had 7 Jack and cokes and decides to go talk to the recently divorced mother of 5.

Then you expect him to try wrap up a running offence wearing a ***** club because you have nobody else LOL

If you don’t laugh you’ll cry

The Bengals in Super Bowl had good DT's and good DB's. Now they look weak at Defensive Tackle and Defensive Backs. I know we lost Bates and some DB's, but we also lost the good Defensive Tackles we had that Super Bowl year. At 0-3, this Defense no longer looks like The Super Bowl Defense, but a lot of those key players are gone. Doesn't look like their replacements are getting the job done. I think the D Coordinator is still good, but players leaving and injuries, I don't think he has much right now in D Players. The DE's and the LBs are OK, but I'm seeing weakness up the gut at DT and weakness in DB's, the places of the most change since Super Bowl.

Pretty much agree with this. Losing Bates has been much bigger than many realize. I live in the NFC South viewing area and I watch a lot of those teams games.

Losing Bates and Reader is looming large. Injuries to Rankins and Hill make it worse. The fact that the defense doesn't seem willing to tackle ball carriers makes it really bad!

Hubbard is officially washed. I don’t know what the answer is (it’s certainly not Ossai), but they can’t keep giving him 75% of the snaps. He’s batting with Geno Stone for worst player on the defense right now.

Yep.

We really have no elite, all-around defensive guys. Trey is good, but not elite.

Jenkins was decently good last night even with the club. The problem was nobody around him was even serviceable. Davis stunk, so did Tufele. Guy was literally just a body. Hubbard had a terrible game and because of all this there was zero pressure on Daniels; who has already shown that if you pressure him he is not all that. And yet nothing from Lou to generate pressure; you know like sending Hill on a corner blitz or any number of other things.

Stone at least had a big hit last night.

But yeah, dude is done.  Need to see Murphy starting when he comes back.

While I don't disagree, I will say that I heard Tufele's (spelling?) name called more than Hubbard"s. That's definitely not good.

I got roasted this offseason when I said Hubbard sucked and needed replaced as a starter.

The defense has problems that may not have a path to improve much this season.

With our starting DTs, we gave up 170 on the ground vs a bad offense that couldn't throw the ball.

As to edge, Trey is an elite pass rusher, not good vs the run. There are no other good pass rushers. Ossai continues to regress, Hubbard is seemingly washed.

Moving Dax, yet again, reflex a defense without any plans. CTB is a great CB2, Hilton cannot cover.

We have the slowest Safety room in the NFL. Bell doesnt have it anymore, Stone has always been slow, even Battle is slow but at least he is closer to his slow forty time at the combine than Stone and Bell. Battle has played 1 defensive snap this season, on the worst defense in the league, what happened there?

It is sad that that our only hope is that the injured starting DTs dont actually suck as bad as they have shown, that our 2 rookie DTs become very solid during their rookie season after being injured (never happens), and that Murphy becomes 3/4 of the old Sam and at least a half of Trey.

The "mad scientist" Lou just looks mad. He doesnt have talent but its not like he has ever had Top 10 defenses.

We are in a bad spot, with the shorthanded and bad personnel department, and cheapest owners in the NFL, we may be bad for awhile on defense.

Tufele is know for making some splash plays almost every game.  His issue is consistency, he is a poor man's Ogenjobi.

Nothing we can really do about the putrid DL at this point, but there are moves to be made in the secondary. You used premium picks on 2 guys that are on the bench right now.

This defense doesn’t need a Band-aid, it needs a body cast.

Where do we start?

Who is worth keeping? Would any other NFL team want any of all players? Except Hendrickson.

If the Bengals had any one else’s defense, we probably would have won 2 superbowls by now.
This team doesn’t gang tackle, they don’t even tackle at all. Constantly whiff on tackles, can’t keep the QB contained.
1st and 20 and can’t stop a score last night, 4th and 16 at KC, can’t stop a score.

I'm down to hoping McKinnley Jackson can solidify the run defense. Need something unexpectedly good to happen.

This is part of the problem. In the usual Bengals tradition we had a position group wiped out by injuries. Unfortunately for us it is DT and also DE is depleted. Jenkins finally got to play and even with a club was good. The next step is getting someone next to him - like Jackson. Hopefully Murphy when he returns continues the growth we saw in preseason and later last season so Hubbard can be spelled. If not at this point I think I cut Hubbard's snaps or move him inside next to Jenkins and let Cedric take that DE spot - he has much better physical tools right now.
