It's the foundation of the defense and they give up way too much space in the run game and can't win with any consistency in the pass game. Everything crumbles from there. I really hope Myles Murphy ends up working out because man, they need it.

Couple guys I'm encouraged about in the draft if the Bengals end up drafting early enough to get one of them - Mason Graham (DT, Michigan) and Nic Scourton (DE, Texas A&M).
I like both as good run stoppers who should have good pass rush potential, and I'm assuming both continue to ascend the rankings based on how their seasons are going thus far.

I think honestly getting either a DE or DT would work given the age and remaining tenure Hendrickson, Hubbard, Hill, and Rankins have.
Hubbard, Hendrickson, and Rankins will be entering their final year under contract next year.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Tycen is a great athlete but they obviously cannot trust him.

And I am tired of having players they cannot trust.  Just like Burton.  Do we suck at drafting so bad that we choose stupid players or are these coaches so inept that they are incapable of teaching these players the basics?
Well Dax is now out for the season with a torn ACL so now we need to trade for a CB.  WE are good at drafting WR so i have hope for Burton.....but Jones not so much.

Have we moved onto the draft? Oh, man, it's too early to think about that. It's October 7. It's five games in. It's too painful to look forward to the draft. We waited all off-season to watch Bengals football. And the last game was fantastically exciting -- until the bitter end.

I start looking at the next draft the week after the previous draft is over, as do some others on here.
So we as in everyone probably not, but we as in myself and some others...always.

On the opposing note, someone else mentioned something hilarious. We don't trade our draft picks as if they're gold to us, yet we also draft poorly. Trade the ***** draft picks and get Tee out of here already!

Honestly, trade Tee for more picks. Yeah they can’t draft for shit but more picks has more chances for hits.

Gotta draft need. Bpa works if you can coach up players and positions. This team can’t.

We could have prime Ed Reed back there it wouldn’t matter with this DL. Need Edge and DT to be the priority. In both FA and the draft.

Offense is a stubbed toe away from being 10 losses. Load management may occur.

They should aggressively trade for a dlineman this season. If the D shows any improvement in the next couple games and the offense continues playing like it is.. Screw the draft.

For now anyway. Hopefully that’s their  thinking.

With Tee, 2024 was supposed to be the last hurrah.

Malaki Starks from Georgia might be someone to snag in the teens.

Considering we're picking 2 if the draft started today we might focus on a high pick.

We just keep looking into the future and crap away the healthy burrow years. We aren't getting someone like him again in most of our lifetimes.

That's the killer here.  We have peak Burrow right in front of our eyes.  Zero doubt that he's one of the best doing it at the most important position in pro sports.  All to get crapped away by soft, inept defense.

The Bengals playoffs chances are really low. Realistically, they probably aren’t making the postseason. I do think this team will end up winning somewhere between 6-8 games, though. They aren’t a bad team overall. They just have an awful defense.

How and why did we watch prior Bengals years when it was obvious they weren't going to the playoffs that year? A younger version of me just wanted to hope for wins, the older version is like can this Defense improve for next year?

Good question.  I watched faithfully and attended some games throughout the '90s, always hoping for some miracle to occur.  Which they didn't.  I once went down to PBS to sit outside in 30-something degree weather to see if a 1-13 team could possibly climb to 1-14.  Which they did.  The best reason I had for doing that was the that the tickets were already paid for, so why not?  But, that was decades ago. Not sure the me of now would endure all that.  I don't want to find out.

the squeelers win superbowls with their defense when their offense has been mediocre to bad.... Why cant we win games with our offense inspite of our weak defense.

Defense wins championships, not offense
