Therapy Moving Forward
#1
Well, here we are again my friends. I did not think we would be here for a LONG time but we are a bad football team again.

I want to bash this team and coaches as bad as the next guy.

What can we realistically do the rest of the season? Taylor is not going anywhere.

Do we trade Tee for instance for some draft picks or defensive players? Why not at this point? If so what could we get for him?

Can a new DC make a big difference or is this a roster issue?

I like that we ate a lot of clock trying to help our defense. Does anyone else have any good ideas of what we could do going forward? Even if not for this season like trading Tee for picks etc.

PLEASE - No doom and gloom. Enough of that everywhere else. (And I enjoy venting as much as the next guy or gal)

PS - I love you all and thank you for your support during this depressing time. If we Bengals fans are good at anything it is hope and support.

We fired a DC once, in the middle of the season. I think it’s time again.

Won't help. Lou brought thr Blitz package today and Lamar either easily read ir because of usage (Sam at MIKE lol) or zero 1 on 1 wins.
I have the Heart of a Lion! I also have a massive fine and a lifetime ban from the Pittsburgh Zoo...

I am not certain on this. I will have to watch it again. But it seemed to me that our blitzes always involved one of our Safties and were obvious. They just went to where the blitz came from. You can disguise these better.

Agreed. Said earlier that Buddy Ryan couldn't get plays out of these bums. Lou may suck, but the players are far below par, that I don't know if you can gauge him 100% fairly. Think we have two talented guys, and they disappear at times, too.

We have to find out, if it’s the DC, strategy, play calling, players, etc, before this season is over. So, we know where to go next year.
We won’t learn anything new this year, because it’s  the same thing every week.

I kind of agree with this. I do not think they are all garbage players. And I would rather know

Lou is a lot to blame. The blitzes were never disguised and he kept sending the slowest people instead of the fastest. Also tackling was terrible again and that is at least half coaching. Then there is constantly giving a QB with less than pinpoint accuracy extremely easy wide open targets because our secondary fails to react to the offense.

If Adams is worth a 2nd.... Tee is much younger and you can sign him for a LT deal.

I'm willing to give it 1 more week but I'm firmly on the blow it up train. I think this team needs high draft picks and many of them for the 2nd half of Burrow career. If you aren't willing to go and get free agents or coaches that know the game then you need talented players.

Having started an incredibly disappointing 1-4, they need to make a statement that this is unacceptable. The most obvious immediate statement would be to fire Lou, because this defense is just embarrassingly bad right now.

What about trading Tee? Do we wait another week before losing all hope?

What could we get at this point? Would you guys prefer picks or a players swap getting some known defensive guys

Any other ideas ????

Agree. It feels like we need to do something to show we are not okay with this

I don't think any team that wants to add a quality WR mid-season is going to give up known defensive guys mid-season. That kind of defeats the purpose of them trying to get better by adding Tee.

You are probably right just throwing out ideas grasping for any hope at this point.

Some teams may have more depth on defense and be willing to bite though

I think after 30+ years it should be clear MB doesn't need to do anything. Unless Burrow pulls a Palmer I don't see any reason our front office should make any midseason moves.  It just isn't the way things go in these parts.

Yep, let's see what Bettcher can do with this defense.

You just said what can we realistically do, then you suggest to trade tee? Could you really see the front office doing that… would never happen.

What we can realistically do the rest of the season (because this is exactly what will happen) is go on a little run, win approximately 7-8 out of the remaining games, have our playoff hopes up until about week 17 until we are mathematically eliminated. End the season right around .500, look a little promising to get our hopes in for next year, all while we mess up our chances of a top 10 draft pick

In the past week predictions were a complete blowout, 400 yards on the ground, yada yada yada. Lose on a muffed snap in overtime and people whine like they expected a win. The team showed it now it has some tackles back, they can play with anyone.

"We got our tackles back. That means so long as we score 40+ on offense, we can play with anyone!"

And we pretty much did, right?
