The defense was absolute garbage last season, too.

How is it entirely different now? You aren't posting anything substantive. Just platitudes about not living in the past and all will be well.

We don't yet know if Jenkins and McKinley will improve the DL. I hope they do and don't become like other Duke/Zac DL picks.

The same front office that gave a Burrow an oline that destroyed his knee?

The same front office that didnt do anything impactful to improve that same oline the very next season that cost us the SB?

Same front office that had a bad defense last season and an even worse defense this season?

This is the dumb shit Im talking about with fans that jumped on the bandwagon when we drafted Burrow.  This ownership/front office has not been good for decades but hey, we had 2 good years because we were so shitty to get lucky to draft 2 no-brainer Top 5 players...

TBF, they played in the conference championship but didn't win it.

Same front office that left the best receiver in the NFL as the only notable player from the 2021 draft without an extension.

Same front office that said we arent paying Tee because we are paying Chase....

I'm right with you here.  We kept getting sold on "keeping this team together".  So far that results in signing Burrow and not a lot else.

If they aren't paying them because they are still unwilling to dish out guaranteed money, that's bad enough.  If they aren't paying them because they can't, then it's an existential threat to the franchise's ability to continue under the current ownership.  That likely doesn't mean we get a new tycoon owner that brings us into the future.  It means the family cashes out and the team moves.

Bad juju all around this year.

They really had me going too. I was ok with letting Bates go when his hold out/ tag situation was playing out in 22. I guess you can't keep everybody, and we'll need that for Higgins I suppose. Then we hear there haven't been any negotiations with Tee. Then Ja'Marr Chase, Brandon Aiyuk, and CeeDee Lamb are all looking for extensions this past summer. Ja'Marr is the only guy still waiting. We've been spoiled by WRs coming in and excelling from day one for over a decade now. Even the best WRs really hit their stride in their third season. Chase has that extra gear held back by poor QB play last season. We're seeing it now, and his pricetag is only getting higher. This organization is so damned pigheaded.

Back to Bates... I remember James Rapien saying it best during Bates last season in Cincinnati... You better not lose both Jesse AND Tee.

Wonder if he quit on the Bengals like Carson did would Mike Brown make Zac go to Joe's house and slide the contract under his door as well?

I’m starting to see things Carson Palmer’s way — and that’s difficult for me because of how Carson left town.
