Everyone Talks about Lou and Zac but this guy continues to get a free pass. It seems to me that the special teams is making way to many mistakes and has arguably cost us two games this season.

If there is blame on the season Defense - 80% Taylor - 10% Injuries - 9% Everything else - 1%

The bulk of the blame is the front office, they did nothing to make the defense better. It's tough to lose people like Bates, and to do such a terrible job in the draft. Some of the picks they make are mind blowing. History proves it 50 plus years they drafted 1 HOF player. That is so terrible. The thing is after the rookie contract good players want to get away from Mr Brown. People believe he is cheep and doesn't care about his players. He is by far the worst owner in all of professional sports, and as long as he and his family are running this team they will do nothing but lose.

Until the last FG attempt, special teams was terrific today. Two tremendous punts, including one fantastic punt and coverage that ultimately ended up resulting in a safety. A surprising kickoff that bounced off the receiver and out of bounds deep in Raven's territory. The blown FG attempt was painful, and there was one mediocre to poor punt that had a 11-yard return, but those two cases don't wipe out the entire body of work of the special teams today. Of 5 punts, 4 ended up inside the 20 and one was 66 yards. And the coverage of the punts was excellent. Only 1 of 5 punts was even returned.

The defensive issues aren't scheme. The line is bad
This hurts LB play. And the safeties are slow and bad. And our CBs are young and not that good CTB shouldn't be a #1 CB.

That falls on Zac, settling for a 50+ yard FG. Gotta take the good with the bad with new, young, guys and our punter has been excellent. That’s a huge pressure situation for the entire unit, not just Evan. Put Robbins in there, maybe the game doesn’t play out the same (field position) from the get go. Just my opinion.

You all are missing the main thing: bad teams find ways to lose.
This game it was a snap. Against KC a penalty. Against NE, the offense was flat. Against Wash, it was the defense.

The last FG attempt was a total cluster at the most important time. We couldnt get the right personnel on the field, then the bad snap, worse hold.

More like Taylor - 50% Front office - 40% Defense - 10% You have to remember that the coaching staff has a massive hand in drafting and who to get in FA. We can't hit in the draft and our FA has been completely ass as well. It's obvious Zac has no idea on how to evaluate defensive players. It's obvious Zac has no idea how to do ANYTHING with the defense. He's an offensive minded coach that's not even that good on offense. The front office has a lot of blame for not keeping the defensive players we actually hit on. Bates and Reader should still be Bengals. I would MUCH rather have them than Tee. No offense to Tee either, because he's a great WR. We've just been ass at safety and now we're ass at DL. I don't put a ton of blame in the defense. You know why? Because they are who everyone knew they were. No one thought BJ Hill was a world beater. Everyone knew losing Reader was going to be huge. Everyone knew that we had no pass rush other than Hendrickson. We're asking mediocre at best players to play at a high level. You can't expect to make chicken salad out of chicken shit You see everyone stepping up and taking the blame other than Taylor. You see Burrow saying he needed to play better. You see Chase saying he ran a shit route. You see McPherson saying it's on him. You see Rehkow saying it's on him. Then you see Taylor saying "he feels bad for his team". What a joke. What a terrible leader. What kind of coach says that. I would have at least a smidgen of respect for him if he just said it's on him, but no. He deflects by saying "we had a pass play called, BUT BURROW CHECKED OUT OF IT". Jesus, what more do you need to see that he's a terrible leader and coach.

Simmons essentially has a lifetime contract with the Bengals. He has been with the organization since 2003 and I'm assuming Zac or any subsequent head coaches have to inherit him and keep him as the special teams coach.

I get the logic that the Punter is used to handling snaps, even the occasional bad snap. What I don't agree with is using the rookie Punter, put an experienced veteran out there. The Bengals this year could easily be 4-1. But we're 1-4 because we couldn't get going against a bad Patriots team... threw away a win on 4th and 16 with a dumb defensive play. Threw away yesterday's game with a bad hold and an avalanche of defensive howlers. KC haven't been anything special at all this year and yet they're 4-0 because they haven't spent all season tripping over themselves. I would argue we should at least be 3-2 on the balance of play this season. We had the Chiefs game won, and we should've had yesterday's game won multiple times. We didn't turn up against NE and defence was a disgrace against Washington, but we didn't do enough to win those games when it comes down to it. But we're a bad team right now so we're 1-4.

At the moment it happened and I saw it was the rookie, I said same thing. But it does make sense to have the punter be the holder. Main reason is practice time. Browning probably just doesnt have the time in practice to work on holding. And the punter, placekicker, and snapper can practice the entire time. The main gripe I have on that whole situation is not trying for the field goal on first down when they went into those 3 plays with the mindset of settling for a field goal already. Get a bad snap or a bad hold, at least have a chance next two plays to get those yards back for a reasonable shot. But they decided to run it 3 times up the gut which they had poor production in the game, and that bit them hard on the 4th down mis-hold. “Don't give up. Don't ever give up.” - Jimmy V
