Best Trade in Bengals History (Discussion)

BJ Hill having a great game in his first time back to NYG led me to wonder was Trading Billy Price for BJ Hill the best trade in Bengal's history. Of course, there are others and that's the reason for the thread. Which trade would you nominate for Greatest in Bengal history.

David Jones for Reggie Nelson is hard to beat for me. Nelson ended up becoming one of favorite all time Bengals.

Getting Reggie Nelson for a guy who would have been lucky to make our practice squad. I can't remember his name, he didn't last long in the league iirc.

Guess one thing would be do you mean "best" buy what we got for what we gave up or is it who was the best player we traded for? Man versus man, I think I agree, so far, that Price to Hill was pretty damn good, given the sample size.

Yeah, love the Price for BJ Hill trade but Reggie lead the league in interceptions one season and was a constant stealer killer.

Speaking of BJ, I want to give him an extension now and maybe if we can afford both Chase and Tee I am for it now. Tee is playing great 
and it makes me sad if we have to let him go somewhere else.

I think we should consider the Brian Leonard Trade; we got him for a player who we got back after he was waived.

What about the trade of Carson Palmer that ended up resulting in Bengals getting Dre Kirkpatrick and Giovani Bernard?

Bernard had >6500 yards from scrimmage in 8 years with Cincy.
DK was a solid (albeit sometimes frustrating) starting CB for 8 years for the Bengals.

Not too shabby for a guy who chose to retire if he wasn't going to be traded.

Absolutely this.  Pete Johnon was before my time as a fan, but he was on his last legs and Cincy got 4 Pro Bowl seasons out of James.  He was a big time factor in keeping the defense honest to Boomer could go downtown to Eddie Brown and hit McGee and Holman.  Maybe I'm biased but gotta be this.

Brian Leonard was an underrated player for us. He had mad heart in getting 1st downs on 3rd and longs.

I agree with this as well.  James Brooks was a key part of the offense for 8 years, including the '88 AFC champs.  Pete Johnson, who was our main back for years, was out of the league a year later.

I can't decide, so my short list is James Brooks, Reggie Nelson, BJ Hill. Honestly, I think that we could just make a poll of those and even throw in a couple of other options for fun.

Trading an aging Pete Johnson who only played one season in San Diego/Miami and then was out of football for James Brooks has to be pretty high up there.

Coy Bacon, RIP, had a gigantic 1st year when the Bengals traded for him in '76...21 sacks. The downside though is that HOFer Charlie Joiner was traded for him. But I think he was worth mentioning for the production he produced.

I'd still put Reggie Nelson at the top considering everything he gave us. David Jones only lasted a season in Jacksonville and I remember he had a game where Philip Rivers targeted him a lot and made him look bad.
