If I’m Jamarr Chase I’m not resigning if Tee is gone

In my opinion, if we keep this clown staff, you can use a first round pick to find a quality wr2. Then take the 25m annually tee would command and plug some holes.

However, the players are not, and that's a big reason why the team is underperforming now compared to 2 years ago.

The team would have enough $$ to have Bates and Reader both if:
A) Let Higgins and Hill walk and allocate that ~$25-35 mill APY to another position, and...
B) Not having Rankins and/or Stone on the roster next year, freeing up $6.5 mill for Stone and $10.5 mill for Rankins

They could also do what more and more teams are doing in voided extra years to lower the cap in the short term. Yes, there are detriments that it results in dead money spent in future years down the road, but certain teams always find a way to keep pushing further and further without hitting a wall.

I will not speak for all fans, but this fan personally doesn't care about the future financial implications pushing contracts into future years to field a better team now, knowing there's a risk the team could be terrible for 3-5 years after an "all-in" window.
I just want to see a Super Bowl victory, even if it means a few seasons of really down years. It's better than riding the middle-of-the-pack for a decade. I know it might not be better financially for the Bengals ownership, but I'm not them.

While I wasn't specifically referring to you, but this place in general. We want to sign everybody. But to your point that the team would have enough money to sign Bates and Reader if we let Higgins, Hill and Stone and Rankins walk would be great, but we have to pay their replacements, right? If we let Hill and Rankins go, who's playing DT? Stone I can see cutting because we have someone behind him that is probably better upside.

Well in the scenario, Bates would replace Stone because he would have been retained.
Jordan Battle would replace Bell once Bell departs (again).

Reader would cover one of the DT spots with a combination of Jenkins, Jackson, and likely a new draft pick would cover the other next year after Hill departs.

A draft pick or cheaper veteran replaces Higgins.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I mean, has everyone forgotten 2 AFCN Championship games and one AFC Championship, 1 Super Bowl and 2 Division titles in the last 5 years? Going from 0-7 in the playoffs with Marvin to going 5-2 in the playoffs with this staff? Yeah, all die. I mean, seriously, if people want to jump ship just do it already. Don't stand on the plank complaining about the water temperature.

Good gracious, that triggered you. Stop crying about it.

People are upset and fed up with the franchise. With good reason.

You and others whining about the angry fans are deluded.

That's 52-632-7.... averaged for 17 games that's a 147 catches for 1,791 yards/20 TD season.

The stat i heard was very specific and the record was horrendous

I wish i felt like rewatching the podcast but i don’t

It was like games where Tee played and had to leave and it was specific to soft tissue injuries for some reason

That just sounds like a useless stat then.

If Tee leaves the game with a hurt shoulder or a concussion we are still good?
If Tee leaves the game with a hurt hamstring we suck?

That's "the Bengals are 3-0 when I wear my 1988 Bengals shirt" level of stat.

Philly doesn’t regret firing Peterson at all, and that says a lot given how buffoonish Sirianni is at times.

Calls me stupid but can't even spell "really" or "Pederson" correctly. Rolleyes

And of course, Philly doesn't regret firing PeDerson; I mean Sirianni has a winning record and a Super Bowl appearance just a couple years ago. But, do you think Philly would consider firing Sirianni NOW if the Eagles record was 2-5?

29 mill may change your mind

THIS is why you get guys as good as Chase extended ASAP.

It is a real possibility Chase doesn’t even wanna come back now

I don’t think Iv ever seen a NFL close its own championship window so badly

It’s like they got that taste of winning in 2021 and said “welp that’s enough of that”

If we really thought the fix to losing guys with Reader, Tee and Bates is drafting guys with mid level picks then idk what to say cause that means we’re idiots

THe point you were trying to make with your wit was stupid. Spare me with the grammar policing.

If they were 2-5? Yeah, they'd probably consider firing him considering how things went down the season prior.

Yep, they always insult your intelligence and lower your IQ Phil, just they way it goes and...

Of course they would consider firing Sirianni if their record was that bad. Losing at all for them is inexcusable. Think after watching
those Eagles beat us they are right up with the Lions now in representing the NFC in the Super Bowl this year.

That was some impressive play calling and overall play they displayed against us. Commanders are damn good too with Daniels.

Uhh, no it's not. You may disagree with it, but not firing a HC who's had 3 straight winning seasons (including one where his elite QB was injured most of the season) and 2 AFCCG appearances in a row with a SB appearance as well is NOT stupid. You know, an intelligent person would refute a point they disagreed with and not just lash out blindly calling someone's point or "wit" stupid.

Missing the playoffs in back-to-back years while you're supposed to be in a SB window will do that.

As for the OP, Tee probably has nothing to do with Chase's decision to sign here. He's not going to see Tee leave and be like "that's it, I am going to go catch passes from Bryce Young!"

I'm pretty sure Chase will be here no matter what so long as..
1. We offer him the money.
2. We have Burrow.

He's not going to both move and go to a worse/unknown QB situation if he can just stay in his current home and get 4yr/$145m ($90m guaranteed at signing) to keep catching passes from Burrow.

Mr. Chase is in the best place he could be... contract coming up... AND.... can chose to pick to move to another team he wants and get paid A LOT at the same time!!!

They have the 5th year option and can franchise him twice so they can keep I’m 3 mor years. Also, 28 mill or what ever he will sign.

I wish i had that star available but iv heard them on multiple podcasts now. Chase stars go down and we barely win without Tee

This was part why i made this thread cause it was so surprising our wins and chases stats went down so much

Idk if you’ve ever been on a sports team but if im Chase idc about the 35M per we could offer over a team that’ll offer 30 per with a better coach and a better run game that could keep doubles and TRIPLES off me.

The fact that so many ppl think this is crazy and the money will blind Chase is a bit wild to me. He could go to the Texans and have a great QB, make money and almost be guaranteed he won’t get doubled as much as he is here.

I’m just saying

If i get these stats/win totals I’ll post them to bolster the thread

Chase 100% cares about the money.  This was proven a couple of months ago.  So does Higgins.  It's not disputable that a huge contract with a large percentage guaranteed takes precedent over any other factor.  It's not unique to those 2 players.  It's how the league works.

Just as us fans view wins and stats as things to pursue competitively, the players view contracts the very same way.  I believe that Chase views himself as the best receiver in the league.  No human wants to get compensated less than they think they are worth.

The idea of taking discounts for situations is a fan's delusion.  Two big name qbs did it and now everyone expects their players to follow suit.  Mahomes and Brady are outliers.  The only big name players that sign for cheap to get in to better situations are usually over the age of 30 and nearing washed up status.
