lol@ newbie fans..we have been season ticket holders the past 32 years..and over the course of the past 32 years ..regardless of the record..Mike Brown has always taken care of and been there for players  especially in instances of personal crisis..Whitworth was 35 years old when he left the Bengals ..the team was willing to give him approximately the same amount of money as LA..just not a three year deal..Mike Brown came out publically and said they loved Andrew, he was a great player and wanted to take it year to year...nothing wrong with that with a 35 year old player...Whitworth and Brown  made up.............................................................................................................Along with dozens of others the Brown family have helped, we recently found out the Brown family has been helping Pacman Jones financialy  to raise  Chris Henrys sons and set aside money for college educations

Does Mike Brown need to hire a formal GM and make better decisions..Yes

  • Respect: Whitworth says he respects Brown's honesty and appreciates what he did for Whitworth and his family.

  • Handwritten notes: Brown has written handwritten notes to Whitworth, including on the birth of Whitworth's daughter, the publication of Whitworth's memoir, and Whitworth's retirement.

  • Framed letter: Whitworth has a framed letter from Brown in his office.

  • Caesar..I may be a "newbie" on this Board..but in reviewing your posts ..all you do is find fault with the team and denigrate others that dont agree with you..You fault myself and others for appreciating the recent success of the team so I guess the only way to get in your good graces is to be bitter and angry and live in the past..

It might have been close AAV but the LA signing bonus was the same size as the Cincy deal so the actual money offered was not in the same ballpark.

All have 3 wins or fewer, and have QBs who have won or finished high in the MVP voting.

He should have asked how many 3-5 teams have a MVP QB in their prime?
Rams/Jets QBs are old.
Browns QB has a lot of off field issues and will never be the guy he was in Houston.
And Dak is just overrated and always has been (Cowboys ya know)

They might as well trade picks for DL/DB. They can’t draft their we positions anyways
Duke should be embarrassed when he looks and sees how much draft capital they have invested into those positions and still they are the weakest spots on the team.

No the signing bonus was not the same as the ten million he was offered by Cincy  ( the signing bonus and first year salary in LA was 12.5 million total) and living in the LA area is far more expensive than here....Yet that is not the point of my response at all

..Like everyone else in Cincinnati, we have all gotten mad at Mike Brown and some of the bonehead things he has done..Yet, when it comes to his personal relationships with the players and the way in which he and his organization has taken care of them and their families especially in times of personal crisis..he is a pretty special dude and his efforts have been well documented..Aside from a very few..and of course the national sportscasters..almost every player..to a person has had good things to say about the Brown family.....Hindsight is one thing..Whitworth could have suffered an injury on his first play on his new contract..I dont fault Brown for wanting to do year to year witha 35 year old player....

WE have had a crappy year..I think its due to a significant amount of injuries and lack of cohesiveness..But I am grateful we have a team  in our city and the recent success they have had.. ..

That’s what happens when you’re more interested in winning contract negotiations than games.

OTOH the Rams rolled the dice on Whit, made a bunch of aggressive trades, and lo and behold they beat us in the Super Bowl.

My bad you are correct the Rams guaranteed almost half his contract (15m) which was the massive difference in cash. It's been a while since I talked about Whit.

And if the Bengals had signed him to a three-year deal and he fell off, as most player his age do, the board would be crucifying them for giving a long-term deal to an aging player. Not matter what they do, the Front Office will never win with some posters.

Assuming they were waiting to see if they won to make a deal they now know - they won so they would be buyers not sellers. So make a deal or two.

With the Saints losing to the Panthers I think they will be selling. There are some interesting options there on the defense.

Shouldn't let Crosby leave Cincinnati.

He's the type of player and personality this defense needs.

Kidnapping. Lol.

Raiders are not trading Max Crosby for anything less than a 1st + more.

He's only 27 with 2 years left on his contract... If the Bengals think they have a shot this and or next year I'd do it.

Crosby and Trey together is so insane to think about. The Bengals would never make a move like that in a million years, but it’s a fun dream.

As the old saying goes I'd shit and fall back in it.

Eric1, I am very appreciative of the SB and 2 AFCC games. I get that you don't see the problems with the team that I do, but that's cool. We have to do something, but we do nothing.

The Raiders have said they aren't trading him.

If they did, it would open up a bidding war. They'd get 1st Round picks plus.

Must be one of those "legacy players" cause they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Would be one of those Cincinnati Bengals/Reds mistakes holding onto a piece just for history purposes.

Add running back to the list.... Bengals interested in adding per Twitter sources.

Moss may be done for the year or a hot minute.
