Maxx Crosby fined for late hit on Burrow
#1

Minuscule fines are not going to deter this stuff.

The Ravens were teeing off on him all night, too.

Cody Ford should have gone after Marlon Humphrey after this but yet he does absolutely nothing. Soft ass ***** team. I saw the Chargers center straight up tackle one of the Saints players a couple weeks ago for messing with Herbert late. Can we at least get some dudes with Whit’s fire even if they don’t have his talent? “Glass eaters” my ass.

Joe is going to have to start crying to the refs like Mahomes does because it’s insane that the league is not protecting one of their top 2-3 QB’s.

Taylor also needs to start going off in his pressers. Take the fines. His QB and his team will respect him for going to bat for them. Enough is enough.

I agree with all of that except the Cody Ford part. We are down to him for a LT, if he gets tossed from the game who replaces him? It should have been Karras who decked Humphrey, simply because he is the O line leader and there is a replacement for him.

Refs won't eject an OL who is protecting their QB from a late hit. Bozeman only got a flag and didn't even get fined for defending Herbert.

Also a more important question than who would replace Cody Ford at LT is who is going to replace Burrow at QB if he gets hurt because nobody on the offense is defending him. Whomever is closest needs to do it.

Oh, Ok.......

Quote:Yes, Andrew Whitworth was ejected from a Cincinnati Bengals game against the Oakland Raiders in 2012 after a fight with Raiders players:

  • Incident: With 7:19 left in the fourth quarter, Raiders defensive end Lamarr Houston hit Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton to the ground. Whitworth confronted Houston, and the two engaged in a small headbutt. Other players joined the fight, and Whitworth, Houston, and Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly were all ejected.

  • Fines: Whitworth was fined $26,260 for his role in the incident.

  • Whitworth's reaction: Whitworth said he expected to be fined, but he wasn't suspended. He also called some of the Raiders "cowards" and said he was more upset about being hit and gouged in the eyes by Raiders players
I'm not saying it should not have been done, just that our last tackle should not be the guy doing it.....

Firstly Ford wouldn’t have got ejected. And secondly he was likely the only one who saw it. That’s why I specifically mentioned him.

2012 was a long time ago, you could put your body weight on a QB then rather than gently cradle them down to the ground. The NFL is all-in on protecting QBs these days.

If you see it and decide wait for someone else who is further away to eventually see it, it's already too late.

Burrow has had 3 body weight roughing calls this year. He's taken a lot of hits, and he's been beat up more than some other QBs this year, but compared to years ago he's still being treated like a special little fragile angel.

Remember RG3's rookie year when our entire gameplan was "if he leaves the pocket, make sure you hit him, even if you don't NEED to hit him, if you CAN hit him, hit him". We all celebrated it because it worked and there were no penalties. That was football then.

Joe Cool Burrow needs to start being a bit more feisty if he wants those calls.

Getting a little pissed off may just prolong his career and help out his team.

Well he’s under 30 so you’d have to explain what a message board is first.

Refs would execute anyone who does that to Mahomo.

How many fines come out of Thursday nights game, when no flags were thrown?

Should give the Bengals the option to replay the 2 point in Baltimore on Wednesday and adjust the record if successful.  Also give a new sponsorship for that referee crew, "Tonight's referees sponsored by LensCrafters. When your crew can't see obvious penalties they need LensCrafters."   Tongue  Ninja

It is normal I expect it every game our QB gets abused, and no flags and the NFL says sorry each week but does nothing to the refs for missing calls. It bothered me for a long time now it is just an every game occurrence been this way for years.
