I still have a hard time thinking that all of these DL picks over the years were all bad luck. Since the days of Dunlap, Atkins, Peko and Johnson, there have been at least a couple of dozen players selected to play DL. Many of those picks, a lot of us were excited for. Not one single one has stuck, and developed into an All-Pro/Pro Bowl type of talent, in fact the only one to stick for any significant and impactful period of time is Sam Hubbard.
Low picks like Mike Jordan too....who was just cut by New England.
The dline is a mystery. You get Geno Atkins in the fourth, then draft Margus Hunt? There's blame to go around, but I think it's more on the personnel department. Boiman was discussing the same issue this morning on the Mike McConnell Show. Draft picks are largely busts, then you get cheap veterans in FA. There's some SERIOUS evaluation that needs done for that group in the front office. They suck.
Can't forget, Dunlap essentially fell in their lap due to work ethic concerns.
