I wouldn't have a problem were it Ariana Grande as portrayed in Wicked. At least the view of the sideline would be easy on the eyes when the Bengals were losing.

Well, you got me there with the gramps. Fan since 1968, so I guess I had that coming.

Except Zac is the HEAD COACH. So it's not "his offense" it's "his team".
-With Zac we're always going to start the season in a hole from being unprepared to start the season, normally 0-2.
-We're not going to be a physically tough team.
-We're going to struggle in the AFCN as long as our opponent doesn't have a trash tier backup player playing.
-We're never going to be a good rushing team and it's always going to be neglected for more passes (Joe Burrow leads the league in pass attempts, we're 30th in rushing attempts).
-We'll never have accountability, because Zac won't fire coaches who are doing terrible jobs.

Is it Zac's decision, or the front office to fire a coordinator. Since salaries and contracts are involved, I doubt he has say.

I'm sure he has some say, but I agree that the actual decision will come from the Blackburns and Mike Brown.

I think it's pretty clear that the owners will have the final say. Just look at the history of retained coaches/coordinators over the years of HC changes.

Well, Marvin was able to get Teryl Austin relieved of his duties during the 2018 season, likely because Marvin was able to fill in as DC for the remainder of that season. I wouldn't think that Lou Anarumo would have a huge buyout required in order to make him go away at the outset of the season. I say outset as there is not anyone on the current defensive staff that I would deem worthy of interim DC.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I'm totally onboard with removing the entire defensive staff. That's not my point though. Coslet was a holdover from Wyche, Bratkowski was here with Coslet, LeBeau, and Marvin. There was the RB coach (can't remember his name) that was here forever, Piano Man, Simmons, and these are just the ones off the top of my head.

What do we know gramps? I’m with you though, been watching bengals since 1968. Hoping to see a Super Bowl win before I die. Not looking good.

There's really no reason to can Lou before the end of the season because he would only be replaced by an assistant coach. Let him ride out the rest of the year, then clear the defensive room of all coaches and let the new DC pick his own.

If you can him now, the word is out that the Bengals are looking for a DC. Not a bad idea, we’re not getting any better before end of year.

Zac has done a poor job spending any of the clout he had from taking this team to the SB and AFCC in back to back years. This is what disappoints me the most. MB and co should be kneeling at his feet and he should have them by the b***s. Getting whatever he wanted while the iron was still hot.
He at the end has gotten nothing (well outside of a revamped lockerroom). No change in contract philosophy or scouting department etc. Has he even fought for it? If Zac couldn't or didn't get anything accomplished (moving this FO forward) with his resume in the first 3 years, no coach ever will.
If the answer is to fire his coaches (even through the defensive staff deserves it) and nothing else. He should grow a pair and threaten to leave if Tobin isn't let go and he isn't allowed to revamp the scouting department. The issue isn't the coaches, it's the failed plan to replace talent that was let go, and firing Lou doesn't do anything to bring accountability to that failure.

We have no talent on D outside of Tre even Logan is average. you need 3 to 4 Tre's across the defense to mask the weaknesses else where. If we had another Tre on the Dline corners would play better we have a Bates in the secondary maybe we get off the field on 3rd and long a bit more its all cumulative.

I agree with almost all of this, but Logan ranks 18th among all LBs. That's better than average. Everyone else is below average, besides maybe BJ. That's a big problem.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and guess the league is aware we are looking for a new DC

The smartest change they could make this offseason (but it will never happen) is to bring in a quality football person to replace Duke Tobin, and give them the same control and authority that most other GM's enjoy...letting them decide who stay and who goes. Tobin has been here for a quarter century and seems to have been adopted into the family. It's beyond time for time for new blood and new ideas in that role.
Unfortunately, that's probably never going to happen while Mike's around...so we're stuck with Tobin, who has the best job security in the NFL.

I actually thought the bye was a perfect time to replace Lou with Bettcher, and evaluate him over the final weeks. Not saying he could dramatically improve this current defensive roster, but it gives you a chance to evaluate his approach, how players respond to him and what he does differently than Lou.

I would also like to add it isn't very helpful when you're only defensive playmaker in Tre is a slight liability in the run game

But see that's the thing, even if the promoted Bettcher, he would have no time to implement HIS system. It would just be Lou's system with another guy coaching it. End of the season is the best time.
