Possible Zac Taylor replacements
(12-03-2024, 04:37 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: Except Zac is the HEAD COACH. So it's not "his offense" it's "his team".

-With Zac we're always going to start the season in a hole from being unprepared to start the season, normally 0-2.
-We're not going to be a physically tough team.
-We're going to struggle in the AFCN as long as our opponent doesn't have a trash tier backup player playing.
-We're never going to be a good rushing team and it's always going to be neglected for more passes (Joe Burrow leads the league in pass attempts, we're 30th in rushing attempts).
-We'll never have accountability, because Zac won't fire coaches who are doing terrible jobs.

Yea, but his play calling sucks in crucial situations.

Mike Tomlin on Hard Knocks talks about Joe Burrow and how everyone around him is going to get a Job (OC/HC I'm guessing). Then today there's reports by Jeremy Fowler (consistently breaks Bengals news) about coaches calling to see if Zac Taylor is on thr Hot Seat. This stuff kinda makes me want to see the Bengals hire a Defensive minded HC and cycle through OCs with an emphasis on minority hires in that role.

Why not hire the best guy for the job, regardless of what his skin color, gender, or anything else is?

The league put emphasis on minority hires by giving out two top 100 draft picks for those hires. So teams will start putting an emphasis on it too.

I’d rather have the best guy than hope the bengals could materialize a late 3rd round pick.

I don't make the rules I just play the game. NFL has a record 9 minority HCs in 2024 teams are starting to lean into it especially after seeing the 49ers collect SIX draft picks for 2 HC, and a GM hire.

My point is, the 3rd round pick would likely get wasted

Anyone on the outside can see how Burrow and Chase are generational and are chomping at the bit to build their resume and legacy because of what they see in Chase and Burrow

So when there is a majority of minority hires will the league then give some draft picks to teams who hire a whitey?

Around 27% of NFL players are whiteys.  When do teams get draft picks for hiring more whitey players?  I mean, cmon, 70% of players being non white is a problem right?  It is if it is reversed.

The NBA needs some more diversity also.  Only 17% whiteys.  smh  Isn't that a huge problem that needs fixed with bribes of draft picks?

It's always only a problem one way.

So, I guess what is being said with this conversation (including calls to see if Taylor is on the hot seat) is that, despite the ownership, the Bengals could attract a top coach/OC because Burrow and Chase would make them look good. That is a far cry from what I was thinking: that a top coach would not come to the Bengals because of the ownership/train wreck of an organization.

The organization hasn't been as bad in recent years.............

Personally, I'd love to bring in a defensive minded head coach if we can just get a quality offensive coordinator because Burrow and Chase will put up points, but we just need a defense to stop people.

I'm not saying that the whole game plan should be defensive-minded, but have a coach that knows how to stop teams from putting up a lot of points because we'll be controlling the game with scoring and long drives.

I'd love it, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't come for the same reason BB wouldn't

He managed to get a 1 seed with Ryan Tannehill as his QB.

I still doubt that Zac goes anywhere.  The family despises doing the work that goes into interviewing and hiring a new staff.

People gotta stop repeating this. Anyone who’s not currently employed as a HC would absolutely come here because of Burrow. There’s only 32 of these jobs in the world, and there’s only about 4-5 that come with a world class QB.

It’s also $. Taylor has 2 years left on his contract.

Yep they hired the IU QB coach Tino Sunseri to replace him.
