The Bengals Defense is Impressive
#1
...in how terrible it is.

They essentially give up short passes that turn into long gains. Seemingly have little to no safety help on deep throws and get beat that way. And...the cherry on top is that the middle of the field is wide open.

I don't understand how they could be that bad at all 3 levels.

On defense, we have 1 elite pass rusher. The other guys can't really get home.

They made a Steelers team that couldn't score TD's look like the Greatest Show on Turn Rams team.

And, despite spending draft picks on defense, none of the guys look like they are budding stars.

It’s pretty simple - opposing QB’s have all day because the pass rush is non-existent (we have one guy with more than 2 sacks), and the tackling might be the worst in the league. 14 more missed tackles yesterday against the Steelers.

Yep. And we get pushed around for runs too.

The missed tackles are the worst.

Did anyone else see the Germaine Pratt clip of blaming everything on them "getting the ball out quick"? Like that is some sort of magic thing that can't be stopped in the league? He refused to take any accountability and every question he blamed it on that and their screens. The problem is when coaches aren't held accountable, players don't think they should be held accountable either.

Screens should be easy to stop if you have a team that can tackle. Here they result in like 12 yard gains sometimes.

AND literally every team that plays the Steelers holds them to FG's. Except us.

Didn't see that yet. Inexcusable. Time to make them all accountable on the Defensive side besides Trey honestly.

I knew the screen was happening yesterday before dang near every play. Like you said, just have to be able to take good angles and tackle.

That wasn't some elite Offense we played yesterday and we made them look elite.

Still didn't like the headline "Steelers trounce Bengals."

We lost by 6 points FFS!!!

Trey is kind of a 1-trick pony too. Elite pass rusher, but he's generally bad against the run and everything else.

It somehow felt way worse than 6 points though. Buy, yes it was close.

True, even if I think Trey has been better against the run this year, he isn't good at stopping the run.

Still, extend this guy and add another couple pass rushers and it would help big time.

Yes, only the stealer media would say that we got trounced. It should of been "Steelers hold on to beat Bengals."

Our Defense got trounced, Burrow and our Offense was so good it was only a 6 point win. Once again just terrible on one side of the
ball in record fashion and great on the other side passing the ball.

Therein lies the problem. Evidently Anarumo does not stress tackling fundamentals, as all game long I saw defenders attempting to tackle high on the torso, rather than tackling and wrapping the legs. Watching the Ravens/Eagles afterward was like a clinic on good tackling.

CTB is playing well Hendrickson is a all pro pass rusher mediocre against the run. Logan is still a slightly above average LB. Murphy not starting over Hubbard is criminal everyone else should be replaced including Pratt wouldn't even be disappointed if Jenkins was gone. Dax Hill gets a pass because he got hurt.

They build a good defensive line and a lot of issues disappear.

CTB is allowing a 108.1 QB Rating and missing 9.5% of his tackle attempts according to PFR. According to PFF he is the 77th ranked CB.

Murphy is currently rated the 104 out of 114 Ends on PFF. He has 0.0 sacks, 1 TFL, and 1 QB Hit. He hasn't made a single solo tackle since Week 8 despite playing a little over 1/3rd of the snaps since then.

Shula and Coslet were the '90s head coaches. Uh oh. Let's hope Zac doesn't sink to their level of being bad.

Even if you only lost by 6 and had a chance to win it? I disagree, the Defense as I said got trounced, not the team.

That is unfair to Burrow and the Offense and they even did it with shitty play from a few of the OL, namely Cappa and Ford.
