Burrow "confident" Bengals can re-sign Higgins

I can agree about spending some of money it would take to sign Higgins on other areas of need, but I also think that the Bengals would also have to either invest a 1st-2nd round pick or some FA cash into another WR. Iosivas is developing into a nice player, but he's still not ready to absorb all of the targets as a WR2. Jermain Burton? Dude had the easiest role in the league this year, come and learn under Chase and Higgins, and he still can't get meaningful time on the field??

You absolutely have the money to do it. It’s sad you have the money but you do.

The defense is in shambles though.

Is it worth paying two top-tier WRs and top-tier QB and all that money going into 3 of the OL spots while the Bengals have basically 0 pass rush and poor/inconsistent play at DB?

I trust them more to bring in FAs for defense over drafting and developing them.
That's been about the only success on defense they've had.
Although they haven't been great at that either recently.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Couldn't they get just a decent vet WR with just normal production for a lot less than Higgins will want? Doesn't have to be an All-Pro kinda guy, just proven production. A high draft pick kinda scares me. Never really know how that's gonna work? cough J. Ross

Can the Bengals sign both JaMarr Chase and Tee Higgins, absolutely. Should they sign both of them, I'm not so sure.

The defense gave up nearly 7.3 yards/carry to another RB last night, for them to walk off of the field as winners last night is almost criminal. That defense needs another does of FA cash, as the current coaching staff has failed to develop anyone that can consistently stop the run.

BINGO

They need major help on defense. DT or two? DE, couple DB's, maybe another LBer? Add in Oline and WR2, perhaps even TE #1? Depth basically everywhere. Who's gonna be RB #2?

I just don't think they can pay two WR's mega bucks and not hurt the team BAD in all the other needs we have.

You can add void years and spread the cap hit over those void years. The Bengals NEVER do this, though.

Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

But it still raises the cap during the rest of Joe's contract which are already the expensive years. The ship sailed on Tee when they didn't do it after his third year and didn't get Ja'Marrs contract done this off-season.

The entire free agency class is weak and it's looking like the WR draft class is too. So a tag and trade is still on the table.

I dunno about you, but I've never heard Tee say or imply that that is the case.

^This

I counted 9 holes that you listed, you can count on the draft to fill what, maybe 2 of them (if they make smart picks)? For sake of easy discussion we'll even give them a 3rd rotational player that won't need to be attained in fee agency, leaving 6 holes to fill from outside.

Ok, so we'll go on a mini spending spree, YAY!! Um, not so fast my friend. Have any of you that are claiming that "we'll just fill those holes in FA" actually taken a look at the current contract values of anyone worth a damn at any of those position? When you do, don't forget to add at least 10% to their current value to compensate for yearly market inflation.

Restructuring does not mean taking a pay cut. Restructuring means the base salary is converted to a signing bonus and that money is then spread out over the remaining years, but the player receives that cash immediately.

Or in other words Mike Brown will have to come up with additional cash to do this and with the impending upfront cash needed to sign Chase, (Higgins in this scenario), Hendrickson, idk if it's as simple as what most owners can do.

blind optimism strikes again. Yoshi has shown nothing in terms of being a capable second option

bengals should let Higgins go and invest that money in other areas..Higgins cant stay healthy..Higgins drops easy passes..you simply cannot pay 2 receivers 50 million bucks a year.Furthermore..whilst Joe Burrows stats are good...time and time again he fails to make crucial plays..His pocket awareness has gone from bad to terrible..Joe should concentrate on improving his own game rather than providing discourse on others....this team needs al least 7-9 different starting caliber players and not a penny should be spent on Higgins after this season

I have a theory

Tee played like crap yesterday. He feels he isnt gonna be here next year, and the season is over. Tee is just trying to stay healthy. Make business decisions.

Joe saying he wants Tee back was just a way to lift Tee's spirits. Joe doesnt want Tee half-assing it the rest of season.

thats just my theory though. Joe still wants to win games. He cant have Tee being dejected.

But they arent gonna re-sign Tee, and they shouldnt

I agree with you, but unfortunately several on here are living a pipe dream where Joe, JaMarr and Tee get to play together for the rest of their careers and the FO suddenly becomes capable of drafting the All-Madden Defense and OLs.

nice story..great fiction..this team does not need tee Higgins to win ball games..this team needs consistent and concerted effort on both sides of the ball...and more talent..but let me add my own lil story..Tee Higgins is going to make a zillion bucks next year..even more than  what his 20 million this year..tee Higgins is not suffering from down spirits..this team beat an even worse Dallas team last nite..barely..this team needs to change up at least one third of  the defense..not to mention two interior offensive line positions..and God only knows why Yoshi and Burton are failing so miserably..this talk about resigning Higgins is crazy talk..and I know that I will get clobbered on this Board..and I like Burrow.. but there are certain times in the game when we need a play and he fails..miserably..and his pocket awareness has gone from bad to just terrible..  Tee Higgins will be just fine..a multimillionaire many times over..Tee Higgins wherever he goes will miss one third of the season with injuries ( chronic hamstring) and continue to drop easy passes..have a great day Frank
