One would think, at least in a typical NFL franchise.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

If they had actually cared they would've fired Annarumo midseason like they did with Austin. The fact that his hasn't happened tells me they don't assign much of the blame or Anarumo but instead to the players failing to execute. This isn't even really a bad take because the Bengals drafted shitters for defense the last 2-3 drafts.

Lou bought more good will than the short lived Austin. They’re probably just giving him the respect of not doing it in-season. Plus when they fired Austin they had Marvin to call the defense.
But there’s no way they try and run it back without any major changes. Not after one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.

I think we need some changes on the offensive line..including a new voices ( coach)..But I doubt if they are puposefully negligent..Furthermore..Burrow is causative of some of the hits he takes...

I guess they still don’t dip into free agency or have an indoor practice facility either right? I’m not saying they’re completely modernized and all caught up with the rest of the league, but it’s definitely better than it used to be. It would be insane to not make changes after wasting an MVP caliber season from your QB and a potential triple crown from your superstar WR.

we have had a boatload of injuries this year..I think the FO had a plan to slowly integrate some rookies and 1-2nd year players..But it did not work..We do need more scouts and a GM.. It still shocks me to see players from some major programs come here and all of a sudden forget how to run routes , catch 10-12 yard passes and not being able to tackleon the defensive side of the ball..Lets hope we see some changes ..not only scouting but I personally think we need some new voices ( coaches) defensively and for the the offensive line..Until then..I am loving college football and I am watching my fallback team the Detroit Lions

It's not that far fetched to think they stand pat. Fans were clamoring for years to get rid of Bratkowski and Breshnihan (sp?)... At the very least Marvin should've been gone 3 or so seasons before he was, and THAT'S being generous. It wasn't that long ago that many fans were calling Lou a mad scientist or whatever (also lol at that notion). I could very easily see the front office sitting back and making excuses about injuries, and guys needing time to develop, and continuity... And for the record I think Lou should've been fired after his first season, and should've definitely been canned during the bye this year. I'm honestly ok with letting them all go.

Totally agree with you on last few posts. They will definitely make changes, likely involving the two names you mentioned. I personally wonder if that's not enough (half measures) , but they aren't going into next season with this same staff.

Take the penalty, but make the players pay. They did it to us until Whitworth mopped the field with John Henderson.
Someone should have put Parsons on his ass. It sends a really bad message when our players tolerate that. And I don't care what Zach and Joe say.

That's where I'm at with it. Dude is arguably the best player at the most important position in professional sports. We've been told since the Manning-Brady era that these guys need to be protected. They are a big part of why people watch football.
Yet, somehow, after all of the player safety posturing, we get a truly elite qb in Cincy and he's a human piñata every single week. It's not borderline fan grievance. It's blatant and demonstrably repeated. No talking head or retired ref can argue the facemask. Or the late hit in Baltimore. It's potentially cost the Bengals at least 1 game. That game might have been the difference in deciding a playoff birth. It's discouraging.
Our season is functionally over. Burrow is not going to sit. He's playing an MVP season as is Chase. They won't pack it in. IMO if the stupidity continues, the OL needs to mess someone up. We aren't playing for anything, so who gives a shit about a penalty? There's literally no better time to establish a reputation than the next 4 games. Get ejected. Eat the penalty. Now is the time.

My honest assumption is that they are far more likely to make little to no changes vs major changes. That's just going off of the last 35 seasons of the Brown family front officing.
Even if major changes are made, what actual proven winners are coming to Cincy to work under inept control freaks with practically no scouting department? It will just be more unproven yes men. Either way we are screwed.
I REALLY hope they prove me wrong.
