They have the funds to compete based on how he's entering the league, but agreed it's a pipe dream.

Joel Wolfe said the process of meeting with teams will start next week and that:
"We're going to leave it open-ended, depending on how the first round of meetings go, how many total meetings he plans to have. Teams have already begun sending presentations." Sasaki will then narrow it down to 2nd meetings after he returns from Japan after the holidays. If the Reds are one of the teams that meet with him next week (and they better be)...Francona better be doing the most of the talking. The chances may be low for the Reds, but they do have things to offer, starting with Francona and Derek Johnson, a good starting staff already in place so Sasaki wouldn't be pressured 'the guy' right away and Cincinnati's media environment would seem much more to Sasaki's liking. Not expecting them to land Sasaki, but I am hoping they go balls-to-wall trying to.

They both need some major pieces to truly be competitive and the time is NOW ! Elly, Greene, etc. are only going to be here so long before being gobbled up by the Yankees, Dodgers, and so on. Same as Joe Burrow isn't getting any younger for the Bengals.

I just assume the Dodgers, along with any other good Japanese player and the majority of good FAs.
