They should blow up the roster and move on..Hubbard, rankings, cappa, stone, Bell, Pratt and Wilson should be getting walking papers if those decisions are made the bengals would have approximately 119m in cap space..
After that they should sign both higgins and Chase giving both good signing bonuses to lesson the cap hit for the 1st 2 years of the contracts..if they could get the cap hits for higgins and Chase to somewhere around 30m combined they would have close to 90m to fix the defense..
I would draft 2 guards early in the draft and I would go free agent shopping with the 90m to fix the defense..

Having to depend on 2 rookie guards to start would be a dicey proposition. I’d rather see them bring in at least one FA and draft another.
Also, no way they cut Logan Wilson.

Yeah, when I saw Wilson on his list of cuts, I knew he didn't know what he was talking about.

Agreed, It would cost us $3 MIL in cap to cut Wilson.

I think I'd rather keep our LB's. I know they haven't been great, but it's just more holes to fill and they really aren't breaking the bank.

Agree
In fact I'd rather get two FA vet guards, decent ones.

And if the fix the Dline the LBers almost automatically become better.

It will never happen but my vote would be to see them go out and get proven guards, a legit pass rusher to go opposite of Hendrickson and a safety. Let Higgins Walk he's always dealing with hamstring issues anyway.

I agree, we do need to shed cap dollars to free up both cash and cap space. But I don't agree to draft rookies to plug and play in 2025.
Here are my cuts:
Sheldon Rankins
$7,450,000 $2,000,000 $0 $1,500,000 $1,500,000 $50,000 $0 $0 $11,500,000
$2,000,000 - Dead Money
$9,500,000 - Cap and Cash savings 2025
Sam Hubbard
$9,000,000 $2,000,000 $0 $0 $500,000 $100,000 $0 $0 $11,600,000
$2,000,000 - Dead Money
$9,600,000 - Cap and Cash savings 2025
Alex Cappa
$7,000,000 $2,250,000 $0 $0 $500,000 $500,000 $0 $0 $10,250,000
$2,250,000 - Dead Money
$8,000,000 - Cap and Cash savings 2025[
Zack Moss
$3,075,000 $1,500,000 $0 $0 $300,000 $100,000 $0 $0 $4,975,000
$1,500,000 - Dead Money
$3,475,000 - Cap and Cash savings 2025
Stone is also a possibly, but only if we have great FA safety in our sites or he goes back to playing poorly
This would add almost $30.5 million cap dollars for 2025.
If Stone is cut, and additional 6.5 million to partially pay for a stud safety in FA if one is available.
Fans hate on Volson, but he is paid low back up money, a little over 1.2 mullion, sign a guard and make him a backup.
We would need plug and play vets at WR2 (Higgins), Both guards (FA), DT (2) as Hill is a FA DE, RB and CB. We are too good on offense to not shore up our defense with FA vets.
Then, use the draft for high potential starters by end of 2025 or in 2026.
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

This .....and ain't no way I'm cutting Logan. Wasn't he a top 15 LB before he went down?

Not sure where he ranks, but he has been one of the better ones the last 3 years or so.
Definitely, our best LB in the last 30 years

If the interior o-line improves, everything gets better. Better running game. Gives Burrow more time to throw and extends his career. Helps keep the Bengals defense rested on the sidelines.
It needs to be the priority.
Plus the Bengals will be in a good spot in the draft to take the best guard in the draft.
Tag and trade Tee, sign a top guard in FA, then pick another guard up with the first pick in the draft.

This is pretty much spot on. It may be an unpopular take, but I'd cut Pratt as well. His lack of effort at times this year has really bothered me. He also seems like he's lost a step.
The FA guard market is rich. They can most likely sign a couple good veterans for a decent price.
I'd spend on a tier 1 DT and a solid edge, then take best defensive player available in round 1 of the draft - hopefully its a plug and play starter.

All they need is average athleticism and a player that has shown they have had success in the league for it to be an immediate upgrade.
