Can someone explain..

How was that ruled a catch to Mims Jr for a TD with 8 seconds to go? I could swear the ball was trapped touching the ground after bouncing off his leg. You can clearly see the point of the ball being dragged on the ground.

I never saw the ball touch the ground.... they ruled it a touchdown and unfortunately there wasn't overwhelming evidence to overrule it.

I was trying hard in my mind to make the case that the ball hit the ground, and these Bengal hating refs screwed us again - but came up short.

Dude simply made a top 10 catch of 2024 (maybe top 5 with all that was on the line in a quasi-playoff implication type game).

Kudos to him

My cable went out with 14 seconds left to go in the 4th Quarter. Denver has a 4th and 1 and came back on as Tee was making the TD catch in OT.

So IDK, but not a pleasant time in the bfine household

Ball seemed to do everything but touch the ground.

Been there, that sucks! I only got to see the 2nd half myself. Friday, I had severe chest pains, so I was rush to the VA hospital. I ended up staying overnight while they got test results back. Turns out it was GERD but they released me about 2:15. I got home just as they kicked the FG...

Won't argue with that. It shouldn't have been an issue with 2 defenders right there anyways.

The ball never touched the ground to my eyes.

I thought he controlled the ball on his knee...but that he didn't get control until his head was out of bounds

Here is the replay for those that want to review it.  When I slow the video down to half speed it looks like he got his knee under it before it hit the ground.

I could not embed the video because Youtube blocks it here.

That was my take. TBS, they weren’t going to overrule it. Great catch, kudos to him.

I'm not arguing it hit the ground the ball was moving while his helmet was out of bounds. could have been overturned ive seen much worse go against us in other games. Right now the fight for 1 is Logan holding call in SB that clusterfuck in AFC championship loss to Chiefs and the all time classic of Justin Smith roughing the passer against Gradkowski.

Did not think the video tells if the ball definitively touched the ground or not. Actually leans toward not touching but so, so close to dragging turf. Which obviously would not allow the call on the field to be overturned.

Think I needed toilet paper shortly after bearing witness to that 4th down game tying catch though.

Yet Burrow once again manned up, twice actually because of York's doink.

Thank God too because the look on York's face after doinking the upright would have been haunting and become the face of the Bengals missing the playoffs on SportCenter on a round the clock loop.

Thanks Joe, you're priceless.

It was a "up for grabs" ball and Mims got it - ruled TD so review would need to overturn. Had they ruled it INC likely it stays that way too.

Damn man. Now that's worse than a wife standing in front of you asking you a question every single time there is a good play.

This.

We would have been overturned or ruled incomplete if we’d done it.

Cue the NFL saying it was'nt a catch, his helmet was out of bounds when controlled.

Bingo

I had to watch it like 4X before I realized the ball was riding on WR's knee. It never touched the field.

It absolutely never touched the ground: that was definite.

But that ball was moving the entire time, until he was touching white. Bullshit call.
