I think he is solid enough as long as he can catch well and block, I see catching and YAC yards as more important than run plays due to play calling.

Brown is good at exploding through the crease and getting to top speed in 3 steps, Herbert has nice vision and can execute a cutback really well. Herbert might have a slight edge in Goal Line effectiveness. Personally, I like that they have different running styles, as that is exactly what you want in a change of pace back, someone with a different rhythm than your primary back. For sure, they could be a great compliment to each other honestly. Give me one more that does something different like Jonah Coleman a bowling ball and we could go from having one of the worst RB rooms to one of the best. Chase Brown, Khalil Herbert and Jonah Coleman.

Herbert averaged 4.8 ypc during his time in Chicago. A lot of Bears fans wondered why he wasn’t getting any carries. Consensus seemed to be he is a pretty dynamic runner but struggled to pick up blitz’s when blocking and dropped too many passes. However his ability to run the ball didn’t seem to be his problem.

We are going to see just how capable he is against a stingy Stoolers D line.

I don't know where this Chase Brown lack of vision narrative comes from, but it's wrong. Brown has good vision and he plants his foot and is decisive and explosive when he does.

It happens, not everyone always sees the holes and it is easy for us to watch afterwards and see a hole a RB didn't. One thing about Herbert looking back at his Bears film is he saw the holes a lot more than not and it is a strength of his. Nothing against Chase Brown. |
