If he is hired, we get a 2025 3rd round comp pick and a 2026 3rd round comp pick.

Good luck to Trey but I cannot think of a worse job in the NFL than being the GM of the NY Jets.
Trey better brush up on his Madden ratings

There's not too many owners that I would put below Mike Brown, but holy smokes Woody Johnson is bottom of the barrel.

Probably him and the idiot down in Carolina. It’s a short list.

Can't they take Tobin instead?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Not doubting you, but a pick THIS year?
That'd be sweet. Late 3rd. There will be decent DE, DT, S, IOL, TE, WR3, and RB2 options floating around there.

The Jets already have a GM and his name is Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, because unlike free agents which aren't all signed (and I think there's performance calculations on them being Pro Bowlers or All-Pros that year) which require the comp picks to be a year later, the minority hire picks start immediately because there's no performance calculation and all the hirings are obviously happening before the draft.
Example:
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-compensatory-picks-for-minority-coaches-and-executives-explained
Hired from Rams Jan 14th, 2021. Rams got the 103rd pick in the 2021 draft and the 104th in 2022.

Thanks for that. You are so much better informed on some of the rules/CBA stuff than I am.

Why would the Jets want to hire the head of scouting of the worst scouting organization in football?
Just saying based on board experts trashing Duke and scouting department.
I would love it if we got 2 picks if we lose him.
Also, do we get picks if we hire a minority like Saleh in 2025 for our DC?
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

That is what I was thinking.
Also, if Trey Brown doesn't get the Jets GM gig maybe he could be better as our new one instead of Duke eh?

The cynical answer is they probably don't want to hire him, but by interviewing him they've ticked off the mandatory outside-the-organization minority GM candidate interview.
Only the team losing the candidate gets the picks. It's seen as an incentive to nurture more candidates into being desirable hires.

So, we hire him and helps us win the Super Bowl next year. Then a team poaches him for HC, and we get picks in 2026 and 2027.

I know you ninja'd, but he has to be with us for at least 2 years before getting hired away to be HC in order to get the picks.

Never a dull moment up there, though. At least they go through GMs at a slower rate than QBs.
