They usually go with a 5-5 split but sometimes they keep 11 and go light at LB or DB. Likely LB with Bachie and ADG free agents.
2025 DE's where we at?

Chase Young is a good but not great DE. He would be better than Hubbard, Murphy or Ossai. I wouldnt pay much money for him though. His contract last year was worth 13 million. If you could get him for 13 million per year on a 3 or 4 year deal that would be a good signing.
Ossai played better at the end of the year but I wouldnt let that fool me into thinking we could count on him as a starter next year. He would be a good rotational piece if we could re-sign him for a decent price

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward. Sorry for Party Rocking!

It's appalling how many resources have been spent on one if the worst position groups with one of the best one DE in the league.
No rookie should be expected to start and they're going to have no leverage in having to keep Hill and Ossai. Bare minimum you probably have to pay market value or above for a league average NT and then walk into the draft knowing you'll have to go DE in 1 or 2 instead of BPA. Anything above that would be greatly appreciated but unexpected from the FO.

Address IOL and defense in free agency. Oh yeah, extend Chase, re-sign Tee, and a raise for Trey. Won't be easy but that's what it will take to keep Speedy happy. And if Speedy ain't happy nobody's happy.

Doesn't most of the league run some sort of Nickle as their main defensive scheme? I'd look for the Safety/LB "tweeners" to cover the short middle and run support. Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations -Frank Booth 1/9/23

I’d keep Ossai for 4M if he wanted to come back
Cut Hubbard Play Cedric more Resign Trey for 3 years 75M Draft a DE in the first 4 rounds And I’d sign another DE for depth. But my rotation would be Trey, Myles, Cedric, Ossai, 1st or 2nd round pick and another depth vet. Thinking guard has to be addressed early so maybe edge, OG, and MLB? You could easily get a top 5 MLB and OG with your first picks

Bring back Ossai, play Cedric more, but I would add an End like Redick who shouldn't be too expensive after his poor year and problems. But Hasaan is still a really good pass rusher and would be perfect on the other side of Trey.

Understandable, I like either for us, just think Redick will be a bit cheaper and is a bit better pass rusher as he is only 1 year removed from 11+ sacks and last year was him just being on the Jets wreck of a team. Chase Young is the better overall End, better run stopper and could be a 11+ sack guy as well. For either guy, just heard us linked to Redick lately.

As good as Trey is he is at the crucial age juncture where he will almost certainly not live up to the payday that he is going to get.

He gives 100% out there and has earned a raise. I hope the Bengals can work something out that gives Trey a bump in salary but also doesnt tie the team down if his production falls off a cliff |
